Szabolcs Huszti inspired Hannover to a resounding win over Wolfsburg in a Lower Saxony derby at the VW-Arena.

Szabolcs Huszti inspired Hannover to a resounding 4-0 win over Wolfsburg in a Lower Saxony derby at the VW-Arena. Karim Haggui put the Reds on their way to victory in the 10th minute with Artur Sobiech adding a second before the interval. Leon Andreasen made it three in the 52nd minute before Sobiech added his second four minutes later with Huszti the creator of all four goals. Robin Knoche was given his marching orders for the home team in the 65th minute, rounding off a day to forget at the Volkswagen Arena for Felix Magath's troops. Wolfsburg's defence struggled early on as Hannover seemed intent on carrying on from where they left off on Thursday night with a 5-1 win over Slask Wroclaw. Naldo made a hash of a low cross which Diego Benaglio managed to push away from Sobiech before Lars Stindl drilled the rebound wide. The Wolves' defence was breached again moments later with Haggui heading Hannover in front from Huszti's cross. Hannover carried forwards their momentum with Mario Eggiman only just failing to connect with Andreasen's header as the chance to make it two went begging. Wolfsburg almost equalised a minute later when Diego sent Ivica Olic through, but the Croatian was too indecisive and, as the angle grew, he failed to find a way past Ron Robert Zieler. Sobiech found enough of a gap between the legs of Benaglio to double Hannover's lead in the 26th minute, finishing off a quick counter-attack after receiving the ball from Huszti. Wolfsburg hinted at a response in the second half, but they were soon left chasing an even greater deficit when Andreasen headed in a third for Hannover from yet another Huszti assist. Things went bad to worse for Magath's Wolves when Sobiech heading in the fourth with, once again, the Hungarian playmaker Huszti responsible with his fourth assist of the afternoon. Knoche's work was done after less than 20 minutes on the field as the half-time substitute picked up a second yellow card for a professional foul on Konstantin Rausch as many of those fans who had remained to see the end of the game headed for the exits. A goal for Huszti after four assists would have been the cherry on top for Hannover, meanwhile, but the Hungarian missed his best chance in the 81st minute wide, blazing wide.
