Werder battled back to claim a share of the points

Werder Bremen twice battled back from a goal down to earn a 2-2 draw at fellow relegation battlers Fortuna Dusseldorf.

Stefan Reisinger put Dusseldorf in front with goals at the start of either half, but Bremen drew level both times through Zlatko Junuzovic's 16th-minute effort and an own goal from home defender Martin Latka 20 minutes from time.

The result means Bremen, who have now drawn four of their last five matches, remain two points above 15th-placed Dusseldorf.

Neither side had managed a win since mid-February coming into today's game but Dusseldorf must have hoped to end their poor run after taking the lead after just two minutes.

Robbie Kruse fed a through-ball to Reisinger and he fired past Bremen keeper Sebastian Mielitz from the right.

The hosts were ahead for just 14 minutes though before Bremen drew level when Junuzovic slotted home from 10 yards following a good run and pass from Kevin De Bruyne.

Dusseldorf had a chance to restore their lead before half-time but Johannes van den Bergh sent his looping shot over the bar.

The hosts needed just three minutes of the second period to get back in front, however, with Andreas Lambertz chipping a ball out to Reisinger, who drilled his shot past Mielitz and into the far left corner.

Both keepers kept the scoreline at 2-1 as Mielitz made a great save to keep out a point-blank attempt by Dani Schahin in the 55th minute before Dusseldorf keeper Fabian Giefer denied Marko Arnautovic four minutes later.

Giefer could not stop the goal that brought Bremen level again though as Latka stuck a foot out to try and block Arnautovic's shot into the box and succeeded only in deflecting the ball past his own keeper.

Bremen almost snatched all three points in the 78th minute but Giefer made a superb save to keep out Eljero Elia's shot.
