Mario Gotze scored two and set up a third as Borussia Dortmund destroyed Bundesliga basement boys Greuther Furth 6-1 on Saturday.

Goals by Gotze and Ilkay Gundogan's put the visitors in charge inside 15 minutes, while a Jakub Blaszczykowski strike and further efforts by Gundogan and Gotze made it 5-0 at the break.

Edgar Prib hit a fine consolation for Furth in the 71st minute before the league's top scorer Robert Lewandowski made it 6-1 late on.

Dortmund went ahead after 12 minutes, Sebastian Kehl finding Gotze who dummied a defender before beating Wolfgang Hesl in the left corner.

It was 2-0 three minutes later as Blaszczykowski cross for Gundogan to fire home at the far post.

Lewandowski nearly added his name to the scoresheet after 24 minutes but the striker's looping shot hit the crossbar.

Dortmund struck again after 29 minutes, Gotze passing to Blaszczykowski whose diving header from a yard out made it 3-0.

Four minutes later Blaszczykowski turned provider as he crossed for Gundogan to complete his brace, while Gotze also made it a personal double when he scored a fine solo effort on the stroke of the break.

Furth finally forced Roman Weidenfeller into a save from Sercan Sararer after the break as Dortmund hit cruise control, and the hosts' consolation duly arrived in the 71st minute when Prib danced through three defenders before beating the goalkeeper.

Lewandowski finally got in on the action in the 80th minute, turning home Blaszczykowski's cross.
