Borussia Dortmund made light work of Greuther Furth at the Westfalenstadion, with Robert Lewandowski and Mario Gotze seeing them to victory.

Lewandowski struck first, giving Jurgen Klopp's side the lead in the third minute, although their advantage lasted only two minutes before Zoltan Stieber levelled.

Lewandowski restored Dortmund's lead in the 15th minute before Gotze made it 3-1 just before half-time and that was how it stayed.

The defending champions were quickly into their stride and Lewandowski struck the opener, his sixth goal of the season, following good work from Gotze and after two Furth players got in each other's way.

Furth's reaction was immediate, though, with Stieber levelling with a fine chip over Roman Weidenfeller after the visitors penetrated the Dortmund defence for the first time.

The match edged back Dortmund's way 10 minutes later when Bernd Nehrig was adjudged to have fouled Jakub Blaszczykowski inside the area and Lewandowski stepped up to send Amsif the wrong way and bag a brace for the second weekend in a row.

Furth threatened to level again with Sercan Serarer hitting the post in the 39th minute, and that woke Dortmund up as they added a third moments later.

Gotze wrapped things up three minutes before the break, taking the ball past Max Grun with ease and then keeping his composure to turn back inside and avoid a despairing lunge from Heinrich Schmidtgal before tapping the ball into an open goal.

With what could be a decisive Champions League fixture against Ajax coming in midweek, Dortmund appeared to take their foot off the accelerator in the second half.

Their lead was never threatened, though, as they held on for a win which, with Bayern being held at Nurnberg, allowed them to reduce their deficit to the league leaders to nine points.
