Anthony Andreu netted the only goal at East End Park where Dunfermline were beaten 1-0 at home by Livingston to lose ground on Division One leaders Morton.

Andreu was on target midway through the first half to help the visitors move to within six points of Dunfermline and with two games still in hand.

Joe Cardle came close to firing the Pars ahead inside the opening 10 minutes when he raced into the box and clipped a shot beyond keeper Andrew McNeil only to see Jesus Garcia Tena head the ball off his own goal line.

Cardle blasted another effort high over the bar while, at the other end, home keeper Paul Gallacher saved well from Andreu.

And it was Andreu who broke the deadlock on 21, latching on to Mark McNulty's cross to score at the near post.

As the hosts chased an equaliser, McNeill saved well from Josh Falkingham, with the keeper also being called into action to deny a speculative effort from Stephen Jordan.

After the break Liam Fox fired narrowly wide for Livingston while McNeill blocked Cardle at his near post.

Dunfermline had the ball in the net on 82 only for referee Mike Tumilty to rule the effort offside as the Lions held on for three points.
