Joe Davis: Set to miss out

Team news for Saturday's League Two clash between Port Vale and Accrington at Vale Park.

Port Vale manager Micky Adams hopes to have an unchanged squad for the visit of the Reds.

Adams gave little away regarding his team selection ahead of Saturday but the Valiants, who can return to the top of League Two with victory over Stanley as current leaders Gillingham do not play until Monday night, do have players nursing minor knocks.

However, recent signings Darren Purse, Lee Hughes and Daniel Jones are all expected to make their home debuts.

Defender Joe Davis, not included in the squad that drew 2-2 at AFC Wimbledon last week, has suffered a dead leg while in action for the reserves and looks unlikely to be in contention.

Louis Dodds and Rob Taylor are both back on the training ground after injuries but this game will come too soon for them to be considered.

Leam Richardson will select from an Accrington squad bolstered by a busy transfer deadline day.

Mark Hughes and Tom Aldred add to Richardson's defensive options having agreed to join until the end of the season on loan from Bury and a free transfer respectively.

Paul Rachubka returned to Stanley on loan from Leeds and will start in goal after Cameron Belford's latest emergency loan spell from Bury expired. Regular number one Ian Dunbavin is out for the season with a shoulder injury.

Nicky Hunt extended his stay from Rotherham but is set to miss out after suffering a severe concussion during last weekend's goalless draw at Plymouth.

Striker Padraig Amond remains a doubt due to his niggling groin complaint.
