Kerr: Could make first season appearance

Team news ahead of Saturday's League Two clash between York and Rotherham at Bootham Crescent.

York midfielder Scott Kerr could return to the squad and make his first appearance of the season.

Kerr has been sidelined since March with cruciate ligament damage but played for just over an hour in a reserve-team run-out this week and may play some part.

Manager Gary Mills has also been boosted by the arrival of Peterborough midfielder Daniel Kearns on loan and he is expected to go straight into the squad.

Mills, who has no new injury or suspension worries, faces several selection dilemmas with striker Oli Johnson stepping off the bench for the final 20 minutes in the midweek defeat to Fleetwood and pushing for his first start since arriving at Bootham Crescent in the summer.

Winger Matty Blair is likely to continue in his new midfield role while fellow midfielder Jonathan Smith and central defender Clarke Carlisle are hoping for recalls.

York have won only one of their last six league games and are chasing their first home win since the beginning of last month.

Rotherham manager Steve Evans could tinker with his line-up.

The Millers saw their midweek game at Accrington called off just 10 minutes before kick-off after a heavy deluge left standing water on the pitch and Evans named the same team as the one that saw off Oxford last weekend.

While there are no changes to the personnel at Evans' disposal there could be a change in shape, which would most likely see the Millers revert back to a 4-3-3 and that might mean a recall for Daniel Nardiello.

Striker Alex Revell is only one instalment into his three-match ban so he will not feature, while Laurie Wilson is back in training following a knee injury but is not expected to feature.

The Millers make their first visit to face the Minstermen since 1999, though they are already on the hunt for revenge after Gary Mills' side knocked them out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy last month.
