Akinfenwa: Back in Cobblers contention

Team news for Tuesday's League Two clash between Dagenham & Redbridge and Northampton at the L.B Barking & Dagenham Stadium.

Dagenham boss John Still could give Dominic Green his first league start of the campaign when his side host Northampton on Tuesday.

The midfielder has come off the bench in the closing stages of two recent league matches but has not yet been named in the Daggers' starting XI since recovering from the hernia problem that has kept him sidelined so far this season.

If selected, Green will replace Medy Elito who has occupied the midfield berth in his absence.

Northampton have a 100 per cent record over Dagenham but Still is unlikely to make any changes to his side who were held by Accrington on Saturday.

Kevin Maher, who is still nursing a foot injury, and Matt Saunders (ankle) remain the only absentees.

Adebayo Akinfenwa is one of three Northampton players who have been declared fit for selection.

Striker Akinfenwa, last season's leading scorer, has been given the green light to travel after overcoming a bout of illness that saw him miss the defeat to Fleetwood on Saturday.

Also ruled out of the game at Highbury Stadium, which saw Town lose 1-0 to an injury-time goal, were defenders John Johnson (shin) and Anthony Charles.

Johnson should be restored to the starting line-up with Danny East set to serve a one-match suspension for his red card against the Cod Army.

"Although we've lost Danny, which we're disappointed about, Johnno has trained and so he comes back into the reckoning," said manager Aidy Boothroyd.

"Luke Guttridge is fully recovered from illness and he was in contention on Saturday but I wanted to keep the midfield the same for that game. Considering how hard they worked I might need to mix things up there, maybe by bolstering it with an extra man or by changing one or two players around."
