Bhasera: Possible return for Pilgrims

Bhasera: Possible return for Pilgrims

Team news ahead of Saturday's League Two clash between Plymouth Argyle and Port Vale at Home Park.

Plymouth boss Carl Fletcher should welcome back Onismor Bhasera.

The Zimbabwe international missed last weekend's goalless draw at Torquay after taking part in an African Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola.

Loan striker Guy Madjo is expected to make his full debut against the club where he enjoyed a short but successful loan spell last season.

Madjo joined the Pilgrims late last Friday but had to settle for a place on the bench against the Gulls to help recover from his overnight trip.

Goals still remain hard to come by in the league and Fletcher is already short in attack after injuries to Nick Chadwick (calf), Paris Cowan-Hall (hamstring), Rhys Griffiths (calf) and Jamie Lowry (ankle).

Plymouth have scored four goals in their opening five matches, three of which they lost.

Port Vale are likely to remain unchanged for the seventh successive match.

Manager Micky Adams once again selected the same team last weekend against Rotherham, and after watching Vale thrash the early-season promotion favourites 6-2 he is expected to stick with the same line-up in Devon.

Assistant boss Mark Grew believes the demolition of the Millers will have made the rest of npower League Two sit up and take notice.

"A lot of people were expecting us to wilt and die this season," said Grew. "People were looking at all the difficulties the club has had over the last few months and certainly the bookies were writing us off before a ball had even been kicked.

"Saturday's result will have surprised a few people, I'm certain. Last season, there was never many scouts at Vale Park, but there were 14 or 15 on Saturday and it shows that when teams are doing well, people want to see why. Perhaps we have opened their eyes a bit."

Adams has defenders Gareth Owen and Adam Yates, midfielders Ryan Burge and Ryan Lloyd, left-sided player Rob Taylor and striker Ben Williamson, who scored twice for the reserves in midweek, all available should he wish to make any changes.
