Wells: Carrying a knock

Wells: Carrying a knock

Team news for Saturday's League Two clash between Rotherham and Bradford at New York Stadium.

Rotherham should hand a start to defender Johnny Mullins.

The defender suffered a knock on the opening day of the season against Burton and missed the next two games. However, he came through the reserves' 7-0 win over Bury in midweek and should feature.

Boss Steve Evans must choose whether to put him in at right-back ahead of Mark Bradley or move him into central defence, allowing Kari Arnason a return to central midfield.

Strikers Daniel Nardiello and Alex Revell scored four and three goals apiece in that reserve outing and Evans admits those two, along with several others who played in that game, are in the frame for Saturday.

"Nards is knocking on the door, but so are a few others," he said. "Both wide players did well, Michael O'Connor played superbly and Alex Revell got a brilliant hat-trick so there are a number of options for us."

Nicky Hunt (hamstring) and Dale Tonge (Achilles) have both returned to training, but neither are expected to make the starting XI for the game which looks like being a sell-out.

Bradford boss Phil Parkinson will make a late decision on Nahki Wells and Andrew Davies.

Both are carrying knocks, but Parkinson is likely to name an unchanged side from the team that beat AFC Wimbledon 5-1 last week.

Wells and Davies missed City's 2-1 win over Watford in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday with niggles. Parkinson is in no rush to bring them back into the fold after their replacements proved their worth with a win against the Hornets, but if fit they are both likely to feature.

Midfielder Ritchie Jones remains sidelined with an ankle problem while captain Ricky Ravenhill faces up to three months out with a knee injury. Otherwise Parkinson has a healthy squad to choose from.
