Walker: Faces late fitness test

Team news ahead of Saturday's League One clash between Scunthorpe and Carlisle at Glanford Park.

Scunthorpe pair Nathan Ellington and Josh Walker both hope to play a part in the centenary celebration game.

On-loan Ipswich striker Ellington, yet to score in three appearances for the Iron, has missed the last two games due to a calf strain, while midfielder Walker has been out for the same period with ankle ligament damage.

The Iron secured their first win in five league matches at Leyton Orient last week and manager Brian Laws will not want to make too many changes.

Wingers Andy Barcham and Mark Duffy supported Karl Hawley in his lone role up front for the Iron at Orient, but Laws could be ready to recall Ellington for the home encounter when a bumper home crowd hope to mark 100 years as a professional football club with victory.

Centre-half David Mirfin remains sidelined with a knee ligament injury as Scunthorpe look to climb out of the bottom three with a fourth win in eight league matches.

Carlisle will have to make do without the services striker Joe Garner.

The striker has returned to parent club Watford, although the Cumbrians want to make Garner a permanent signing in the January transfer window

However, on Saturday, Danny Cadamarteri and teenager Mark Beck will be vying for a recall to the starting line-up alongside Lee Miller.

Miller only returned from a five-month injury lay-off due to hernia and ankle injuries in last week's 2-1 defeat at Shrewsbury and manager Greg Abbott is hoping he is OK to continue.

Defender Valentin Gjokaj has been recalled by parent club Derby and Peter Murphy is still recovering from a hernia operation, so Mike Edwards and Danny Livesey are expected to continue at the heart of defence.

Midfielder James Berrett is making steady progress following a groin problem, which has kept him sidelined for the last three matches and striker Rory Loy (broken leg) is not yet ready as the Cumbrians look to bounce back from three straight league defeats.
