Shrewsbury v Carlisle preview

Image: Wright: Sidelined with knee ligament damage

Team news ahead of Saturday's League One clash between Shrewsbury Town and Carlisle United at New Meadow.

Shrews boss Graham Turner will assess the fitness of Cameron Gayle ahead of the Cumbrians' visit. The on-loan West Brom defender has been sidelined with a groin injury but is expected to be in contention for a place in the team as the hosts look to climb out of the relegation zone. Winger Mark Wright is sidelined with a knee ligament injury which forced him off during the 1-1 draw with Crawley last weekend. Paul Parry was his replacement during the game and is expected to be handed a start as Turner's side search for a first win in four matches. But the club are unbeaten in their last three home matches and welcome a Carlisle side who have won just one of their last seven league fixtures. The visitors will be able to call on on-loan striker Joe Garner for the final time when they travel to Shropshire. The 24-year-old completes his 93-day loan spell next week and will return to Watford, with manager Greg Abbott keen to make the deal permanent in January. Lee Miller (hernia and ankle) is stepping up his recovery but is unlikely to be fit for Saturday while Rory Loy (broken leg) is not yet ready. Paul Thirlwell made his return to the first team against Sheffield United last week following an ankle injury and having no ill-effects he should continue in midfield. It has been an eventful week at Brunton Park after the club were forced to come out in support of Abbott after director Norman Steel said the manager's position would be reviewed in January. They are searching for just a second win in eight games.
