Fleck: Pushing for midfield start

Fleck: Pushing for midfield start

Team news for Saturday's League One clash between Coventry and Carlisle at the Ricoh Arena.

Mark Robins is likely to have close to a full-strength squad as he starts his Coventry tenure with a home clash against Carlisle.

Robins was appointed as Sky Blues boss on Wednesday and he will hope for an immediate response from his players as they aim to turn around a four-match losing sequence and record a first league win of the season.

The 42-year-old was not present at Shrewsbury on Tuesday night to see City's worst offering of the campaign to date - a 4-1 defeat - but he did have a scout in the stands at the Greenhous Meadow and will immediately get to work on the problems at hand.

Midfielder David Bell (hip) is set to be the only absentee as he continues his long-term recovery.

Fit-again John Fleck will be pushing to start in midfield while the likes of Gary McSheffrey and Cody McDonald will also be keen to impress as everyone starts on a clean slate.

Carlisle midfield pair James Berrett and Liam Noble return to contention following suspension.

Noble has missed the last three games following his straight red card in the recent Johnstone's Paint Trophy defeat to Preston, while Berrett sat out the goalless midweek draw with Crewe after reaching five yellow cards.

But both players have been told not to expect to walk straight back into the starting line-up and with teenager Brad Potts turning in an accomplished display alongside Paul Thirlwell on Tuesday night, manager Greg Abbott faces a selection dilemma.

Striker Joe Garner, re-signed on loan from Watford in time to make the substitutes' bench against Crewe, is pushing for a place in the starting line-up, while forward Jake Jervis is hoping to feature in his last match on loan before returning to Birmingham.

Goalkeeper Mark Gillespie is expected to keep Adam Collin on the bench, while striker Lee Miller (knee) remains a long-term absentee.
