Russell: Could play for hosts

Team news for Saturday's League One clash between Portsmouth and Oldham Athletic at Fratton Park.

Portsmouth will add Johnny Ertl and Darel Russell to their squad for this match.

Boss Michael Appleton was able to bolster his threadbare squad with the midfield duo ahead of the transfer deadline.

Both could be in line to start with Lee Williamson still a major doubt with a hamstring problem and Adam Webster carrying a hip injury.

Veteran defender Ashley Westwood is still on the sidelines as he has yet to return to training after picking up an ankle ligament injury.

Young midfielder Conor Clifford could be handed a start after a goalscoring cameo as a substitute in last weekend's 4-2 defeat at Carlisle.

Winger Kieran Djilali and youngster Sam Magri have left the club.

Meanwhile, Oldham boss Paul Dickov has been boosted by the return of Jordan Slew.

The on-loan striker had returned to his parent club Blackburn for treatment for a back injury but is now back with the Latics.

Slew suffered the injury in last Tuesday's draw against Walsall before returning to Rovers for assessment.

James Wesolowski is out for four to six weeks after scans revealed a hamstring tear last week.

Defender James Tarkowski played through the pain last weekend after struggling with a dead leg and is expected to continue at the back.

Dickov's side are without a league win so far this season and have only collected a point from their first three outings.
