  2. Relegated FA Cup winners Wigan end their eight-year stay in the top-flight with a 2-2 home draw against Aston Villa. Darren Bent's opening goal was cancelled out by Emmerson Boyce before Nathan Baker handed the Latics the lead on the stroke of half-time. But Villa skipper Ron Vlaar rescued a point on the hour mark with a stunning volley.

  3. 90+1

The ball falls to Roman Golobart after a scramble, but his chip falls onto the top of the goal.

  4. 90

Jordan Bowery heads the ball away for a corner as the board goes up with THREE added minutes of stoppage time.

  5. 89

The 20-year-old Campabadal is a former Barcelona youth player, so somebody to watch out for in the future.

  6. Ashley Westwood is replaced by 20-year-old Gary Gardner, while Spaniard Eduard Campabadal has come on for Emmerson Boyce.

  7. 87

Shaun Maloney's free-kick is headed over the crossbar by Arouna Kone.

  8. 86

Angelo Henriquez is felled by Joe Bennett and the Villa full-back is suffering from a bit of cramp.

  9. 85

This game looks to be petering out into a draw, but you never know. We still have five minutes plus stoppage time as both teams plan further changes.

  10. Emmerson Boyce is booked for taking out Simon Dawkins.

  11. 82

Simon Dawkins finds Andreas Weimann as Villa decide to take the sting out of the game.

  12. 80

OFF THE BAR! James McArthur strikes the woodwork with a lovely controlled volley from Roger Espinoza's deep cross.

  13. 79

Ashley Westwood wastes his free-kick, overhitting it.

  14. 78

Matt Lowton is brushed off the ball by Roger Espinoza and this is a good opportunity for Villa.

  15. 77

You'd think that if Wigan can keep the nucleus of this side, then they'll have a very good chance of making an immediate return to the top-flight.

  16. Gabby Agbonlahor is replaced by 21-year-old Jordan Bowery, formerly of Chesterfield.

  17. 75

Ashley Westwood is clipped for a Villa free-kick about 35-yards out.

  18. 74

The flag is up on the far side with Bent standing in an offside position. Agbonlahor wasn't though and the ball was played to him, so he wasn't too happy with the decision.

  19. 72

Andreas Weimann loses his footing on the edge of the area and it's a Wigan goal-kick.

  20. Simon Dawkins does well to win his side the free-kick and James McCarthy is booked for throwing the ball away.

  21. It's a double change for Wigan! Jordi Gomez and Ben Watson are replaced by Angelo Henriquez and Fraser Fyvie. Young Scot Fyvie is just 20 and is making his Premier League debut, so good luck to the lad.

  22. 67

Gomez plays a really good pass to Kone, but the striker is offside by a couple of yards.

  23. 66

Angelo Henriquez and Fraser Fyvie are ready to make their bow at the DW Stadium.

  24. 65

Paul Scharner dives in with a timely interception as Villa win the throw deep in Latics' half of the field.

  25. 64

Suddenly, the game is really stretched with both teams going hammer and tongs at it.

  26. STUNNING STRIKE: 'Concrete Ron' scores a wonderful equaliser! Joe Bennett's free-kick is taken down by the skipper before lashing his right-foot volley past Ali Al Habsi in an instant.

  27. GOAL!!! RON VLAAR

  28. Simon Dawkins replaces Yacouba Sylla as Paul Lambert makes his first change of the match.

  29. 60

OFF THE BAR!! Roger Espinoza's cross is met by Emmerson Boyce, whose first effort is blocked by Joe Bennett, but his second flicks the top off the crossbar.

  30. 58

Arouna Kone is felled by Nathan Baker, who has had a difficult day at the back culminating in that unfortunate own goal.

  31. 57

Villa break through Agbonlahor, but in the end Ashley Westwood's ball into the box is cut out.

  32. 56

BEACH BALL ALERT! There was a beach ball which kept rolling onto the pitch in the Villa box and Guzan made sure he burst it. We've seen that happen at Sunderland before haven't we!

  33. 54

Really good spell of possession by Wigan comes to an end when Jordi Gomez's shot deflects off Kone and away for a goal-kick.

  34. 53

Roberto Martinez's cup winners are enjoying some neat possession football at the moment.

  35. 52

POOR DEFENDING! Yet more rank defending from Villa as Ron Vlaar's wayward header falls into the path of James McCarthy, but he overruns the ball and that allows Guzan to come and collect.

  36. 49

At the other end, Ben Watson's low drive is well handled by Brad Guzan.

  37. 48

Andreas Weimann's ball to Bent is missed by Roger Espinoza, but the hosts get away with it.

  38. 46

The second half is underway at a sunny DW Stadium and they immediately try and cut through the Wigan backline, but Andreas Weimann's stubs his boot into the ground as he went to shot.

  40. Wigan are 4/11 to claim victory with our friends @Skybet, who make Aston Villa 8/1 and the draw 3/1. Villa are unbeaten in their last six Premier League visits to Wigan, winning four and drawing two. Villa to win 3-2 is a 12/1 shot. Well worth a flutter in my book! 41. Relegated Wigan lead Aston Villa 2-1 at the break. Darren Bent opened the scoring with his first Premier League goal since September. But, the FA Cup winners hit back thanks to a firm header from right-back Emmerson Boyce and then an unfortunate own goal on the stroke of half-time from Nathan Baker, although some of the defending left a lot to be desired.

  42. DISASTROUS DEFENDING: Shaun Maloney's cross causes havoc in the box. The ball falls kindly into the path of Ben Watson whose low drive is cleared off the line by Ashley Westwood but the ball hits Baker and and flies into the back of the net for an unfortunate own goal.

  43. OWN GOAL!!! NATHAN BAKER

  44. 45+2

James McArthur finds Roger Espinoza and his cross is deflected away for a corner.

  45. 45

There will be an additional THREE added minutes of stoppage time.

  46. 42

Gabby Agbonlahor skips past Roger Espinoza down the right but his fierce drive across the face of goal just misses Darren Bent in the middle.

  47. 41

Jordi Gomez whips in his left-footed cross, but Darren Bent does well to steer it away.

  48. Matthew Lowton is booked for bringing down Roman Golobart.

  49. 39

COMFORTABLE! Shaun Maloney's toe-pokes his curler over the wall, but Brad Guzan is quickly across to hold the ball.

  50. 38

Yacouba Sylla brings down Shaun Maloney on the edge of the box and this really is his territory.

  51. 37

The boys in claret and blue keep possession well deep in Wigan territory. Ali Al Habsi handles well from Ashley Westwood's cross.

  52. 36

Ashley Westwood's free-kick is dinked into the box, but Emmerson Boyce does well to clear away for a corner.

  53. 35

CHANCE! Wigan break in numbers, but Arouna Kone square ball is very poor and that allows Brad Guzan is out like a flash to collect.

  54. 34

Darren Bent picks out Gabby Agbonlahor who gets away from Paul Scharner, but sadly for him, the ball runs away and into the grateful hands of Ali Al Habsi.

  55. 32

The ball is teed-up for Delph who smacks his shot against Roger Espinoza and that allows Arouna Kone to break away, but with players in support he opts to have a pop at goal, and once again he misses the target by a mile.

  56. 30

Matthew Lowton is clipped by Ben Watson on the left-hand edge of the Wigan box and this is dangerous.

  57. 29

Arouna Kone sets up Jordi Gomez just outside the area, but his effort is still rising.

  58. 26

Ben Watson loses the ball and that allows Fabian Delph to bring his side forward as Christian Benteke - 19 Premier League goals - watches on from the stands.

  59. 24

Fabian Delph finds Ashley Westwood, but his long ball is headed away by Roman Golobart.

  60. 23

Roberto Martinez's side are keeping the ball at the back and serching for another opening here.

  61. 22

The Latics have been comfortable on the ball, keeping good possession and you would have to say that they deserved that equaliser.

  62. CAPTAIN'S GOAL! Skipper for the day and the club's longest serving player Boyce heads Wigan level. Shaun Maloney found Roger Espinoza out wide and his left-footed cross was met at the back post by the 33-year-old right-back.

  63. GOAL!!! EMMERSON BOYCE

  64. 19

A superb round of applause for Stan Petrov from the 4,000 visiting fans.

  66. 16

At the other end, Ashley Westwood's corner-kick is flicked over the crossbar by Darren Bent.

  67. 15

GOOD CHALLENGE! Shaun Maloney finds Arouna Kone in the box, but Nathan Baker gets back to make an important challenge.

  68. 14

APPEALS FOR HANDBALL! Rather from the fans than the players mind as Jordi Gomez's pass hit Ron Vlaar in the box.

  69. 13

The visiting fans are in superb voice this afternoon as they celebrate 'Stan Petrov Day' with 4,000 masks in support of Cure Leukaemia.

  70. 11

Arouna Kone looks to break forward but goalkeeper Brad Guzan is out like a shot to claim the loose ball.

  71. 9

Villa have won five of their previous nine games and just shows how much progress they've made under manager Paul Lambert.

  72. 8

There was a lengthy stoppage after the goal because a flare was thrown on the pitch at the Villa end.

  73. LOOK WHO'S SCORED! Yep, Bent has opened the scoring at the DW Stadium with a lethal finish. Yacouba Sylla's delicious through ball is taken on by the striker who calmy opens up the space on the edge of the box before firing his low right-foot drive past Ali Al Habsi and into the bottom left-hand corner.

  74. 5

    GOAL!!! DARREN BENT

  75. 4

GOOD SAVE! Joe Bennett's left-foot curler is palmed away to safety by Ali Al Habsi.

  76. 3

Roman Golobart brings down Gabby Agbonlahor just outside the box and this is an early opportunity for the visitors.

  77. 2

Wigan look have set-up in a 3-4-2-1 formation while Villa have gone for a 4-2-3-1 with Gabby Agbonlahor and Andreas Weimann supporting Darren Bent.

  78. 1

The pre-match atmosphere has been amazing at the DW Stadium with the FA Cup being paraded. The stadium in packed and the flags are out. Villa, wearing their claret and blue kit, get the game underway. The Latics are wearing their all-blue number.

  79. Wigan are Even money to claim victory with our friends @Skybet, who make Aston Villa 11/4 and the draw 13/5. Arouna Kone is the favourite to open the scoring while Darren Bent, who could be handed a first start since January, is on offer at 13/2 to take the most of the opportunity and break the deadlock. Villa to win 3-0, 3-1 or 3-2 is a 11/1 shout while Wigan to win 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1 is 5/2. The Latics are joint sixth favourites at 4/1 in next season's Championship promotion odds. Villa are unbeaten in their last six Premier League visits to Wigan, winning four and drawing two so I'm hedging my bets and going for an away win thisafternoon - 1-2, which is priced at 10/1. Well worth a flutter in my book! Right-click here SKYBET and open in a new tab to place your bets on this match while keeping an eye on the action with me.

  81. VILLA TEAM NEWS: Villa have made two changes to their side which lost 2-1 at home to Chelsea last weekend. Full-back Matt Lowton comes in for Eric Lichaj after recovering from a thigh injury while Darren Bent replaces the suspended top-scorer Christian Benteke. Here come the teams...

  88. 15:15

Meanwhile, Paul Lambert's young lions will have to cope without top scorer Christian Benteke (14 goals, one assist) which could mean a rare start for Darren Bent. A win today could potentially take them up to the heady heights of 11th spot should other results go their way. The Scot arrived at Villa Park last summer charged with overhauling the team and implementing a long-term strategy to build for the future. That meant buying bargains from the lower leagues and developing homegrown talent and did lead to his inexperienced side struggling for much of the campaign. The Scot could not be prouder of his young side. They have proven the doubters wrong by staying up and playing football the way it should be played. 'The team's matured and got stronger and gained belief. We have a hard game Sunday and that just shows how close the table is. We've done absolutely fantastically to survive. We've done it ourselves and we didn't need favours. We deserve great credit for that. It was a big challenge for a club in a transitional phase but we're developing and the crowd are with us.' So Villa fans, do you think Lambert has done wonders for your side? Send me your views, email Raz...that's me! at razwan.mirza@bskyb.com or Tweet me: @RazMirza and I'll publish as many as I can.

  89. 15:10

Roberto Martinez is trying not to look too far ahead after his side were relegated from the Premier League after a 4-1 defeat at Arsenal in midweek. Things might have been so different for the FA Cup winners had they won at the Emirates Stadium because there could have been so much riding on this clash. Now it's all ifs and buts and the Spaniard will sit down with chairman Dave Whelan next week to discuss where the club go from here and possibly his own future. 'Sometimes when a club is relegated, it brings chaos, but this is the best we have ever been. At the moment, it's not my priority. My priority is to prepare well for the game and make sure we have a really good time with the fans. On Monday we will celebrate with the FA Cup around the town. Then we will need a few days before sitting down with the chairman next week to decide what's best for Wigan Athletic to move forward.' Martinez has been heavily linked with the vacancy at Everton and his four years in the DW Stadium hotseat may be up. What are your thoughts Latics' fans? This could have been the relegation showdown decider had Wigan defeated Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in midweek, but instead the FA Cup winners will be bidding farewell to the Premier League this afternoon after an eight-year stay. Meanwhile, Villa fans will be celebrating 'Stan Petrov Day' with 4,000 masks for the charity Cure Leukaemia.
