A late double from FC Nordsjaelland striker Martin Bernburg brought Queen of the South's European adventure to an end.

Queen of the South were aiming to become the first Scottish team to progress in Europe after losing the first leg at home and the First Division side made a great start by levelling the tie at 2-2 after just two minutes.

But the Doonhamers were unable to cancel out Nordsjaelland's away-goal advantage and the hosts sealed a 4-2 aggregate win with two goals from Bernburg in the last five minutes.

Serbian side Borac Cacak will join the Danes in the first round of the Uefa Cup after drawing 1-1 at Lokomotiv Sofia to win 2-1 on aggregate.

Defender Bob Harris had given Queen of the South hope by scoring with a superb 25-yard free-kick.

Stewart Kean was unable to capitalise on a couple of good openings late in the half, but Nordsjaelland replied with Bernburg almost forcing a free-kick home on the stroke of half-time.

The hosts then maintained that momentum after the restart as Patrice Bernier forced a good save from Cameron Bell before Jonathan Richter sent a long-range effort just wide.

The visitors rallied in search of a crucial second goal with home goalkeeper Jesper Hansen denying Paul Burns.

But the Danes snatched victory with Bernburg converting from Henrik Kildentoft's low cross before pouncing again in stoppage time.
