David Beckham: Won't start, says Ancelotti
David Beckham will not start for PSG at Reims and Carlo Ancelotti is confident there will be no complacency.
PSG have been getting stronger and stronger over recent weeks and have beaten fierce rivals Marseille in both league and cup over the last seven days.
Former England captain Beckham made his debut as a sub in the first of those games and made his full debut in midweek, putting in two impressive shifts.
He will not be on the pitch from the get-go on Saturday, though, as the capital club look to open up a six-point gap at the top of the Ligue 1 table.
With their opposition struggling in fourth-bottom, a victory could well be on the cards, but Ancelotti is not indulging in such talk.
"We are at an important time of the season. This is true for Paris St Germain, but also for other clubs such as Reims," he told a pre-match press conference.
"The motivation for us is there. We are the leaders, Lyon are also running high, and all matches are very important. We need to be ready. The objective is to take three points against a well-organised team."
Beckham will sit out, though, possibly with one eye on next week's Champions League clash with Valencia.
"Beckham will not start the game," the former Chelsea coach said.
While PSG are looking ahead with optimism, Reims are precariously placed and could well do without a clash against the title favourites.
They are six points off the bottom but just a place and a point ahead of the drop zone.
"This is a tough game but we have to go for it," said coach Hubert Fournier, whose men have won just one of their last 19 matches in all competitions.
