Neal Maupay celebrates his late winner for Nice
Sixteen-year-old winger Neal Maupay came off the bench to score a dramatic late winner as Nice came from two goals down to claim all three points against Evian at the Stade Municipal du Ray.
Maupay was given his Ligue 1 debut in the 87th minute and duly rewarded manager Claude Puel, who saw his side move up to fourth in the table after their fifth successive home win, with a volley in the first minute of added-on time.
That looked unlikely when strikes from Yannick Sagbo and Cedric Barbosa put Evian two goals to the good inside 13 minutes, but a goal in either half from Dario Cvitanich levelled proceedings before Maupay struck late on.
It was harsh luck on Evian, who were looking to build on the midweek victory over Troyes.
They took the lead in just the second minute when Sagbo followed up after Nice goalkeeper David Ospina could not hang on to Saber Khelifa's strike.
And they were firmly in charge when their second chance of the match brought another goal.
Didier Digard was dispossessed by Khelifa, who released Barbosa and he ran through on goal, opened his left foot and beat Ospina with a low drive for his third goal in two games.
It was a dream start for Evian but the hosts responded to halve the deficit in the 18th minute.
Cvitanich collected the ball from Eric Bautheac and after spotting goalkeeper Bertrand Laquait off his line, delightfully lobbed into the top corner.
Defender Aldo Angoula had to be alert to deflect away Bautheac's volley as Nice started to take charge of proceedings.
They began the second half in the way Evian started the first, Cvitanich bagging his second with a lovely back heel after some good work down the left by on-loan midfielder Valentin Eysseric, who had dribbled past several players before picking out the goalscorer.
Laquait denied Mahamane Traore's 25-yard effort while, at the other end, Ospina was on hand to palm away Youssef Adnane's header.
It seemed likely a draw was on the cards but the winner came from an unlikely source.
Maupay, having been introduced less than four minutes earlier, volleyed home in injury time after Mohammed Rabiu's clearance from a corner had fallen to him.
