Cedric Barbosa celebrates for Evian

Evian picked up their first win of the Ligue 1 season at the fifth time of asking as everything clicked in a 3-0 victory against Bastia.

Pascal Dupraz's side put on a show at the Parc des Sports, opening the scoring through Cedric Barbosa, with the same player putting the cap on it with 13 minutes left after Yannick Sagbo had netted a second.

Bastia can count themselves unlucky on the basis of the fact they did all the early running, even hitting the post through Toifilou Maoulida, but their failure to cash in on their chances cost them.

The mould was set as early as the third minute when Julian Palmieri headed over from close range, before Anthony Modeste tested Stephan Andersen from the edge of the area.

Evian were quiet early on, but when they did attack they had an end product, with Barbosa's diving header doing the trick after 30 minutes gone, Kevin Berigaud providing the final ball.

Bastia roared straight back with Maoulida thumping the post with a volley, and then Modeste failed to convert when clean through.

Evian clearly knew they could not afford to allow Bastia to have so much ball and raised their level at the start of the second half, with Barbosa's free-kick deflected away from goal.

The same man then fizzed another dead ball against the bar, while his cross then saw Sagbo head wide.

The near-misses would end, though, with Sagbo doing the business with 72 minutes gone, slotting home after a neat one-two with Berigaud.

And then, with Bastia's resolve understandably broken after all their hard work, Barbosa advanced on goal and scored to wrap things up.
