Thierry Doubai: Scored the only goal
Sochaux picked up their first Ligue 1 victory of the season after beating St Etienne 1-0 at the Stade Geoffrey-Guichard.
Thierry Doubai's overhead kick after 75 minutes won the game for the visitors after the hosts had to play 80 minutes with 10 men due to Jonathan Brison being shown a straight red card.
The visitors picked up their first victory in the capital of the Loire region in 13 attempts.
St Etienne headed into the encounter in tremendous form following 3-0 and 4-0 victories over Brest and Bastia respectively, however they were without Francois Clerc with a knee problem while defender Kurt Zouma also missed out.
Sochaux, who ahead of the clash were propping up the table, also made two changes as Banana Yaya was replaced by Sebastien Corchia, with Kalilou Traore coming in for Loic Poujol.
The hosts made an awful start when Brison was shown a straight red by referee Said Ennjimi after going studs up on Abdoul Camara.
Cedric Bakambu had the first chance of the game after 21 minutes, but after getting on the end of Camara's cross he headed over from 12 yards.
It was 32 minutes before the game saw its first shot on target as Jean-Pascal Mignot's deflected effort from just inside the area was saved by Simon Pouplin.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was next to test Pouplin with his effort on the stroke of half-time, forcing a good save low to the goalkeeper's right.
After a low-key start to the second period, the away side finally made their man advantage count with 15 minutes left when Thierry Doubai's spectacular strike from 12 yards out flew into the roof of the net.
Aubameyang was again denied by Cros as he tipped his effort wide of the left hand post after 83 minutes.
