1. It was 45 years ago to the day that West Brom beat Liverpool, and history repeats itself as Roy Hodgson gets a measure of retribution against the club that sacked him, despite Liverpool incredibly failing to score after 30 shots. Thanks for your company at Anfield and I'll see you soon.

   Shelvey shows his frustration as he bids to win the ball back, clattering into Ridgewell and earning a yellow card.

   Cox this time goes for the incredible as he launches an effort towards the top corner which is easy for Reina to leave.

   Scharner calmly plays the ball away from Shelvey as West Brom retain possession with two more minutes of added time to be played.

   Suarez again, but his drilled ball across goal is smothered by Foster at the near post.

   Skrtel again makes a careless foul as he clatters into Scharner, conceding a needless free-kick which goes into the goal but a foul is given against Scharner on Reina.

   Andrews goes for the spectacular with a stunning effort from range which has Reina flying but ends up behind goal with the fans.

   Skrtel completely clatters into Long, and then amazingly has the cheek to question the decision, but the referee rightfully gives West Brom the free-kick regardless.

    Suarez's touch to Downing is lovely, but the winger's cross is headed away, before Jones then heads clear for a throw-in.

    Enrique crosses in with Ridgewell back to clear as Liverpool continue their assault on the West Brom goal, but Odemwingie breaks and Skrtel recovers fantastically to tackle.

    Liverpool win a corner from the re-start and handball claims are defeaning against McAuley from Henderson's delivery, with replays showing it came off the hand of Agger anyway.

    It's incredible. Johnson is the culprit as he allows Mulumbu in with a poor clearance, before Odemwingie calmly fires past the wrong footed Reina. 1-0 to the Baggies!

    This is incredible. Liverpool are creating chances at will, as Henderson is found in space before firing inches wide. However Kenny Dalglish is teaching them to shoot, they should probably ignore it.

    The corner falls to Spearing but it's a dismal effort from the midfielder who goes for power rather than accuracy and it's a Liverpool goal kick.

    The storm is back in full effect as Johnson again whips a ball in far too easily, with Carroll leaping well but again heading over. Johnson and Kuyt have run riot down the right side today.

    Suarez nips in behind Jones, with Foster rushing out to smother the ball, which Suarez impressively keeps in before the Baggies keeper finally claims at the near post.

    Liverpool hit the post again! This unbelievable curse continues as Kuyt first of all strikes the woodwork with a deflected shot, with Carroll then firing over moments after.

    Smart play from Thomas as he draws a foul from Henderson, with West Brom linking more passes together after weathering the storm from Liverpool.

    Carroll helps on Skrtel's ball, but Liverpool's finishing is again horrific as the winger sends a half-volley well over the bar.

    Olsson recovers well as Kuyt crosses in to Suarez, the centre-back getting enough of his body in the way to deflect the ball into Foster's path.

    Long hussles Skrtel and forces him back as the atmosphere becomes distinctly subdued around Anfield.

    Ridgewell clears as Liverpool assert their dominance, camping out in West Brom's half before Skrtel is denied in the box by a lunge from Olsson.

    Agger finds the ball at his feet from the delivery back in but he goes for the near post and Foster's touch puts it out for another corner.

    The corner flag takes a crushing as Mulumbu clatters into Kuyt, with the end result a Liverpool corner.

    Spearing unleashes a solid effort from range, which has Foster scrambling with the ball very nearly creeping in at the far post.

    The ball comes off Olsson and Ridgewell but Reina is again on hand to make a strong save from the latter. How this game is still goalless is beyond me.

    Johnson advances and delivers into the box with Suarez drawing a save from Foster, before Maxi fires the rebound over the bar. It's genuinely incredible how Liverpool aren't ahead.

    It's alll too familiar for Liverpool as Suarez cuts inside Olsson before firing wide from 20 yards, with Olsson eventually clearing for a throw-in.

    A stunning cross from Maxi finds Carroll in the box but his header is narrowly over as Liverpool close in on the opening goal.

    Liverpool are claiming a penalty as Maxi tangles with Jones, but it was never a penalty despite the Reds players' protests.

    Another chance goes begging as Liverpool play the corner short with Suarez playing the ball across goal with Agger unable to convert from close range.

    The referee causes confusion as Enrique's ball is slipped past Kuyt, before Suarez does well to earn his side a corner.

    West Brom enjoy possession as they press forward, but their quality in the final third is poor as Jerome looks for Long and plays the ball out of play.

    Enrique has a pop but it's not his best effort as he skies it wide of high of goal from 25 yards.

    Olsson and Ridgewell let Enrique's ball drift over the top of them, and Carroll ends up conceding a corner with the Baggies defence looking rather indecisive right now.

    The first real chance of the game for Albion as Brunt takes a swing from 30 yards and fires an effort that bobbles wide of Reina's goal.

    Odemwingie is penalised for backing into Agger as Liverpool start to dominate possession with the Baggies a bit too casual.

    Johnson again crosses in but his delivery into the back post finds not one Red shirt and Foster lets it run out for a goal kick.

    It should be 1-0. Great move from Liverpool with Suarez finding Kuyt who had slipped behind Ridgewell and the Dutchman fires wide from 10 yards.

    Johnson gets away from Thomas on the right, but his delivery takes a touch of Olsson and ends up landing in the path of Foster.

    Mulumbu advances and searches for Long through a narrow angle which is closed off by Agger as Reina gathers.

    Long is tackled excellently by Skrtel, conceding a throw-in while West Brom wanted a foul against the defender.

    Maxi is found by Henderson, before the ball is sprayed back to Kuyt who delightfully finds Henderson with the midfielder just unable to track it down. Baggies goal kick.

    Liverpool press with intent but a lovely move comes to an end, and Long is caught on the break by Agger which results in a Baggies free-kick.

    Spearing sprays a ball out to Kuyt but it's a really poor ball and there's no way the Dutchman is latching on to it.

    Odemwingie holds up play for Albion but ends up conceding a throw-in after good pressure from Henderson.

    Strong work from Jones, who rushes to the byline, but the impressive season from Enrique continues as he makes the tackle to earn the Reds a goal kick.

He writes: "I predict 0-0 with no attempts on/off target, no set pieces, 99% possession for WBA, Ben Foster goes past 8 players then get's stopped in his tracks by a duck billed platypus with Bob Marley Rasta hair and a face like Bucky Larson's then finally the referee blows three seconds early which rattles Kenny to the extent he get's sent off by a green card."

93. Stephen Lightfoot writes: "A win needed today for a couple of reasons. 1. The Reds have no momentum going into the FA Cup Final whereas Chelsea have. 2. Murmerings around Anfield about King Kenny's future. A win for ex boss Hodgson would be embarassing. I personally would have started with Bellers instead of Maxi, he's a natural leader with Gerrard not playing & he's the man in form. Prediction Pool 2-0."

94. Our friends at Sky Bet are backing Liverpool at 4/11 this afternoon, despite them only winning five out of 16 home games all season. West Brom are 8/1 to secure a triumph for Roy Hodgson against his former side, while the draw can be backed at 7/2.

95. Captain Steven Gerrard is the notable absentee from the squad as Liverpool register four changes for the visit of West Brom and a first return to Anfield of former manager Roy Hodgson. Goalkeeper Jose Reina, Jose Enrique, Dirk Kuyt and Maxi Rodriguez all come in as Gerrard, Brad Jones, Jamie Carragher and Stewart Downing are left out of the FA Cup semi-final winning team. Hodgson makes two changes to the team which beat QPR last weekend, with Jonas Olsson and Shane Long replacing Marc-Antoine Fortune and Craig Dawson.
