  1. FT

It was over as a contest some time ago, but Guinea have done their Africa Cup of Nations hopes a world of good. It's virtually all over for first-timers Botswana, but the fact they made it to the finals proves they are a footballing nation on the rise. Well, that's it from me. Hope you've enjoyed it, and have a great rest of your weekend. Cheers all!

  2. 90

The fourth official shows we will have three minutes of extra-time to be played at the end. We're half way through the first of those.

  3. 88

Game. Set. Match. It's all very fluid from Guinea at the moment, and Mamadou Dioulde Bah slams a ferocious strike home via a deflection before Soumah adds a sixth, gliding into the area and placing his shot neatly into the bottom corner.

  4. 87

    GOAL! Botswana 1-6 Guinea! Soumah!

  5. 85

GOAL! Botswana 1-5 Guinea! Mamadou Dioulde Bah!

  6. 84

No hat-trick today for Sadio Diallo then as he is replaced by Naby Soumah.

  7. 83

Very close to a second for Botswana now as their only real movement up the pitch for the second period ends with Jerome Ramatlhakwana rolling an enticing ball across the face of goal, but a Guinea defender just manages to get his clearance in after Mafoko looked set for a tap-in.

  8. 80

It's turned into a bit of a training match for Guinea, I'm afraid to say, and they're completely dictating the pace of the game, which, despite the score line, is still very high-tempo. It could come down to goal difference on who goes through from Group D to the last-eight, and the Guinea players know that.

  9. 74

Great chance for Guinea to improve their goal difference in the group standings as Alhassane Bangoura runs through on goal before rounding the keeper with the net at his mercy, but he goes for far too much power and blazes well over from a few yards out.

  10. 72

A very rare attack by Botswana now as Jerome Ramatlhakwana gets in behind the back four, but the ball he is chasing has far too much on it and the keeper collects with ease.

  11. 70

Another change for Syli Nationale now who bring off Ibrahima Traore for Alhassane Bangoura. Shortly after and Guinea again hit the woodwork, with Ismael Bangoura's effort clipping the base of the post.

  12. 64

Meanwhile, Guinea make a change with Ibrahima Conte coming on for Pascal Feindouno, who was hobbling a bit after a collision moment s before.

  13. 60

It should be 5-1 to Guinea now as Bangoura, who came on as a substitute, unleashes a stinging shot which cannons off the bar, down over the line and back out, but the linesman doesn't seem to notice and the goal is not given. If the score line wasn't so telling I'm sure the Guinea players would have pursued that further, but they seem pretty happy to just play on.

  14. 55

Botswana are almost the architects of their own downfall now as the defence needlessly surrender possession on the edge of the area, but Ibrahim Traore's rasping effort just rises at the end and flashes over the crossbar. It's a case of damage control for the Zebras at the moment.

  15. 50

It's been more of the same really in the opening stages of the second period, with Guinea passing the ball around with real authority, and Botswana left chasing shadows. It's going to be a long 45 minutes for the AFCON debutants.

  16. 46

    The second-half is under way!

  17. HT

It's all falling to pieces for Botswana and they're 4-1 down at half-time! Ibrahim Traore lines up a free-kick, and my word is it a beauty, bouncing in off the up-right to effectively put this game to bed with 45 minutes still to play. Join me after the break to find out if there's any way back for the Zebras.

  18. 45+4

GOAL! Botswana 1-4 Guinea! Ibrahim Traore!

  19. 45+2

Tragedy for Botswana in the dying moments of the first-half here, and Stanley Tshosane's side are down to 10 men as Motsepe is shown a straight red card for a studs-up challenge into the back of Pascal Feindouno.

  20. 45

Tshepo Motlhabankwe looks to find a way back for his side before the break, but he won't do it like that as his attempted angled drive is lashed wildly and flies miles wide of the mark. We'll have two minutes of added time at the end of the half.

  21. 43

Not the best way for Botswana to end the half, and they're now two goals behind. It's Abdoul Razzagui Camara who has netted for Syli Nationale after coasting down the left flank and rifling his shot past Modiri Marumo at his near-post.

  22. 42

GOAL! Botswana 1-3 Guinea! Abdoul Razzagui Camara!

  23. 41

The Zebras are looking much more lively in the closing stages of the first-half, and Jerome Ramatlhakwana shows some excellent control to turn his marker inside the area, but he can't seem to get the ball out from under his feet at the vital moment and the chance goes begging.

  24. 37

We'll have a break in play now as Mogogi Gabonamong goes down under a heavy challenge. He'll need to go off the field and Botswana are currently down to 10 men. No doubt the medical staff will be working frantically to get him back on the field.

  25. 33

Botswana are refusing to let that goal get them down and are plugging away at the Guinea defence, but they seem rushed in the final third and are unable to find a way though just at the moment. A break for Botswana now as Dipsy Selolwane looks to be played in behind the defenders, but Dipsy Selowane shows good pace off his line and is able to clear after colliding with two Zebras players.

  26. 28

It's two for Sadio Diallo, and it's 2-1 to Guinea. Ibrahim Traore is again at the heart of it, this time the striker ghosting past his marker before drilling a low ball into the area, and Diallo finds himself in the right place and rifles his shot into the roof of the net.

  27. 27

GOAL! Botswana 1-2 Guinea! Sadio Diallo!

  28. 24

The SuperSport United striker steps up once more, and this time he makes no mistake, perfectly guiding his spot-kick into the very top corner of the net. The Guinea players are still furious over the decision to retake the initial saved effort, but replays clearly show the goalkeeper was well off his line. Game on.

  29. 23

GOAL! Botswana 1-1 Guinea! Dipsy Selolwane!

  30. 22

Dipsy Selolwane has missed. But wait, the referee has spotted something... Yip, the goalkeeper was off his line and the penalty will be retaken. Kamil Zayatte goes into the book for arguing, and Selolwane lines it up once more...

  31. 21

    Penalty to Botswana!

  32. 16

It's been coming. Guinea have been pushing and probing the last couple of minutes, and their hard work pays off as Abdoul Camara manages to keep the ball in play along the by-line, and the delivery into the area is sweetly met by Sadio Diallo who slides in to rifle the ball past the goalkeeper.

  33. 15

GOAL! Botswana 0-1 Guinea! Sadio Diallo!

  34. 8

Botswana now take the opportunity to showcase their own attacking threat, with Jerome Ramathlakwana controlling well inside the area, turning in a flash and firing goalwards, but his effort is straight at the goalkeeper who comfortably saves.

  35. 5

Guinea have seen most of the ball in the opening stages here and Ibrahim Traore has already shown what he's capable of, with a turn of pace leaving his marker trailing in his dust, but some good covering brings the striker's run to an end inside the area. They win a corner, and although the delivery is good there's no one in an red shirt around and the defence clears the danger.

  36. 1

    And we're off!

  37. The teams are already out on the field and we're just moments away from the kick off. The stadium is not exactly filled to capacity, but the fans that have made their way out here today are in fine voice and very much behind their players. The coin toss has been decided, and we await referee Al Ahrach Bouchaib's first blow of the whistle with bated breath.

  38. Botswana: Modiri Marumo, Ndiyapo Letsholathebe, Mmusa Ohilwe, Mompati Thuma, Tshepo Motlhabankwe, Mogogi Gabonamong, Ofentse Nato, Pontsho Moloi, Phenyo Mongala, Dipsy Selowane, Jerome Ramatlhakwana

  39. Guinea: Naby Yattara, Thierno Bah, Dianbodo Balde, Kamil Zayatte, Ibrahima Diallo, Sadio Diallo, Mamadou Dioulde Bah, Pascal Feindouno, Abdoul Razzagui Camara, Ismael Bangoura, Ibrahim Traore

  40. Better late than never, but the teams are in:

  41. Guinea coach Michel Dussuyer has apparently done his home work. He said: "We have to fight to win against Botswana. Botswana are a difficult team to play against, they close down the space and defend very well. I watched their games against Tunisia and Chad (during the qualifiers) on video. They defend very well and counter attack. It may have been very disappointing to lose our first game, but I'm proud of the performance of the team. All the same, we cannot sit on that, we have to improve."

  42. Feel like making it a little more interesting? Well, our friends at Sky Bet have put Botswana at 7/2 to claim the three points while Guinea are heavy favourites at 4/5, with Ismael Bangoura 11/2 to open the scoring. Good luck!

  43. Guinea, meanwhile, stumbled to defeat in their opening Group D game against Mali, although that tie was also decided by a solitary goal and, as we've seen before in this tournament, anything is possible.

  44. The Zebras began their African dream with a tightly contested 1-0 defeat to one of the tournament favourites Ghana, but some impressive individual displays in that encounter, combined with the return of highly rated striker Dipsy Selolwane from suspension, will have the AFCON first-timers brimming with confidence.

  45. The two footballing nations have it all to play for this evening after each losing their respective AFCON openers, meaning anything less than all three points today would severely dent any chances of progressing to the quarter-finals.

  46. Good afternoon lovers of African football, I'm Ryan Gordon and I've been handed the honour of taking you through all the action as debutants Botswana take on Guinea in their crunch Group D encounter in Franceville.
