Loic Remy: Scored twice as Marseille defeated Lille at the Stade Velodrome

Loic Remy scored twice in front of watching Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp as Marseille dented Lille's Ligue 1 title defence with a 2-0 win at the Stade Velodrome.

The France international has long been linked with a move to White Hart Lane and Spurs' interest remains going into the closing weeks of the transfer window.

With that in mind, Redknapp, who has previously confirmed his interest in Remy, travelled to the south of France to watch Sunday's match and he would not have been disappointed.

The first goal arrived in the 61st minute when Remy scored his eighth goal of the season - his sixth with his head - after nodding in Mathieu Valbuena's cross.

Former Lyon striker Remy enhanced his reputation further in the 83rd minute when he beat Mickael Landreau to a loose ball before rolling home his second goal from 20 yards.

Rudi Garcia's Lille had not been beaten in the league since a 1-0 loss at home to Montpellier on 14th August.

But Remy's brace gave Marseille a win that lifted the victors up to sixth and left their visitors seven points behind leaders Paris Saint Germain.
