  1. Real Madrid were not at their best but still won 4-1 so that tells you how strong they are this season. It may have been a slightly flattering scoreline, but Jose Mourinho's side looked as though they could have gone up a couple of gears had they needed to. Hopefully Friday's draw will keep Real and Barca apart as I for one hope that is going to be the final!

  2. 90+4

GOAL! CSKA are caught out pushing forward and Granero picks out Benzema who squares the ball to an unmarked Ronaldo who rolls the ball into an empty net.

  3. 90+3

Granero's cross is put out for a corner which is played short and more time is taken off the clock.

  4. 90+2

Madrid free kick 40 yards from the CSKA goal. Ronaldo tries to burst through the defence, but is crowded out although the ball nearly goes back to him before the keeper gathers.

  5. 90

We will have a minimum of four minutes added time.

  6. 89

The hosts are really on the backfoot but will know that time is almost up and the job is almost done.

  7. 88

Still CSKA look to get forward, but it has come too late to be fair. Had they been more positive at the start, then who knows?

  8. 87

Some of the home fans are drifting away now so they must be confident there will not be a late twist.

  9. 86

Ozil is replaced by Lassan Diarra.

  10. 85

Ramos fouls Necid who has injected plenty of life into the Russian side, but Werrnbloom's free kick is easy for Casillas.

  11. 84

CSKA corner but the referee spots a bit of pushing and the hosts have a free kick.

  12. 83

Oliseh is booked for a wild lunge on Alonso.

  13. 82

Olisheh gets in a cross to the near post that Ramos is grateful to hack to safety.

  14. 81

Definitely a bit of tension creeping in now.

  15. 80

First touch for Tosic sees him nutmeg Ramos and get in a shot from 25 yards that Casillas fists away when it looked as though he should have caught it.

  16. 79

CSKA change sees Tosic replaced by Czech striker Tomas Necid.

  17. 78

The stadium has gone a little quiet except for the travelling support, but the hosts are still on control.

  18. 77

Have CSKA got the belief they can turn this round - there's enough time that's for sure.

  19. 76

GOAL! Great counter by former Manchester United midfielder Zoran Tosic who cuts inside before rifling the ball into the top corner from 25 yards.

  20. 75

Great work by Benzema sees him get a cross into the near post that Ozil almost turns in.

  21. 74

Madrid change with Kaka replaced by Esteban Granero.

  22. 73

Madrid are knocking the ball about with huge confidence and still fancy adding to their lead.

  23. 72

Casillas drops a cross from Wernbloom, but Pepe helps him out with the clearance.

  24. 71

    Talk about an inspired substitution!!!

  25. 70

GOAL! Benzema has only been on the field 30 seconds when he is picked out in the box by Ozil and although his first effort is blocked by the keeper the ball breaks kindly to him and he powers it in from 10 yards.

  26. 69

Karim Benzema replaces Higuain as the hosts make their first change of the night.

  27. 68

Signs that CSKA haven't given up which is good ... if they can pull one back then we do have a game on our hands.

  28. 67

Ronaldo tries his luck from 25 yards but hits it just as far wide - not one of his best!

  29. 66

Doumbia then gets clear and takes the ball round Casiilas, but can't put the ball in from an acute angle.

  30. 65

CSKA have the ball in the net but sub Oliseh is caught offside - replays show it was about a yard off but that could have made things interesting.

  31. 64

Roanldo heads a corner from Kaka over the top from 10 yards out - poor effort really as he was unchallenged.

  32. 63

Madrid have a free-kick 25 yards out that Ronaldo takes. He gets it through the wall but hits Kaka and goes out for a goalkick.

  33. 62

Kaka looks to play in Ronaldo but the pass is just behind him and the visitors are able to clear.

  34. 61

Second change for CSKA sees Musa replaced by Sekou Oliseh.

  35. 60

It's all Madrid as we hit the hour mark.

  36. 59

Ronaldo tries to dink the ball through for Higuain, but Wernbloom gets in a vital tackle.

  37. 58

Higuain pust the ball in the net but the celebrations are cut shot by an offside flag.

  38. 57

CSKA now need three goals and you can't see it happening.

  39. 56

CSKA force a corner which Pepe has to put out for another one, but this is also cleared.

  40. 55

You have to blame the keeper for that one as it was not the best shot Ronaldo has ever struck, but it looks as though it has settled this tie.

  41. 54

GOAL! Ronaldo tries an ambitious shot from all of 35 yards and the keeper looks to have it covered, but the ball moves in the air and ends up in the corner.

  42. 53

Higuain is caught offside once again ... wish I had a fiver for everyiime I'd written that tonight!!!

  43. 52

Mamaev leads a counter and finds Dzagoev, but his cross is too close to Casillas.

  44. 51

Alonso picks out another great pass, this time to Ronaldo who wins a corner. Kaka takes it but CSKA scramble it clear.

  45. 50

Massive blow for Alonso and you can tell by his reaction that he knew exactly what the implications were.

  46. 49

Alosno is booked for a foul on and Wernbloom and will now miss the next match if his side progress.

  47. 48

Kaka then plays a superb reverse pass into Ronaldo whose shot is smothered by the advancing keeper.

  48. 47

Ronaldo runs at the Moscow defence and is tackled well by sub Mamaev and the ball breaks for Kaka who shoots wide from 20 yards.

  49. 46

Madrid get the second period under way in that famous all-white strip.

  50. 46

CSKA make a change with Pavel Mamaev on for Evgeni Aldonin.

  51. 45

No added time as the whistle is blown and it's Real Madrid who are in pole position to reach Friday's draw.

  52. 44

Madrid have been very impressive down the flanks and no surprise that is how they scored their goal.

  53. 43

Marcelo plays a dangerous cross into the box that almost falls to Higuain but his control lets him down and CSKA clear.

  54. 42

Can't understand that when CSKA had plenty of players in the box to have played a deep free kick.

  55. 41

Kaka is penalised for a foul and CSKA have a free kick on the halfway line, but opt to play it short and then give away possession.

  56. 40

More patient build up by the hosts with Ronaldo popping up down the right, but again Higuain is caught offside ... you would think he's going to time it right at some point during the game.

  57. 39

Great run by Ozil sees him go past three defenders and somehow keep the ball in before he overhits the cross after doing all the hard work.

  58. 38

The referee ponders for a few seconds before deciding to book Musa.

  59. 37

Alonso picks out Marcelo again and this time he is brought down by Musa.

  60. 36

Alonso plays a great diagonal ball to Marcelo in the box and with CSKA wanting offside, he stumbles and the ball goes out for a goalkick with Higuain unmarked in the middle.

  61. 35

The CSKA corner is cleared by Pepe but a definite warning for the hosts though.

  62. 34

Doumbia spins well on the box and the ball drops to Musa whose first-time shot is parried by Iker Casillas.

  63. 33

The hosts are now well on top and CSKa must get to half-time without conceding another, otherwise you fear the tie is over.

  64. 32

Alonso takes the free kick but it sails high over the CSKA bar.

  65. 31

Yellow is the outcome for Berezutski after the referee consults his assistant.

  66. 30

Madrid counter through Ronaldo who is brought down by Berezutski - was he the last man?

  67. 29

Former Liverpool defender Alvaro Arbeloa brings down Tosic 30 yards out but the free kick is hit into the wall.

  68. 28

Marcelo goes down in the area, but it's very dramatic and despite the appeals play is waved on.

  69. 27

Ronaldo might need a change of boots soon as he keeps slipping over ...

  70. 26

Massive task facing CSKA but they have shown enough to suggest they are capable of getting a goal.

  71. 25

GOAL! Ozil finds Kaka who gets his delivery right this time and, after some superb control, plays a low ball to Higuain to taps in from close range.

  72. 24

Good spell of pressure by the hosts sees Kaka try to pull the ball back when he might have been better shooting.

  73. 23

Ronaldo sets Ozil free down the Real left, but his cross is cut out as Kaka was about to latch onto it inside the box.

  74. 22

The impressive Musa delivers a low cross but Ramos is on hand to clear the danger.

  75. 21

Kaka and Higuain try to play a one-two 30 yards out, but Ignashevic makes a solid tackle to break it up.

  76. 20

Chepchugov races off his line to save at the feet of Higuain who had got on the end of Alonso's pass.

  77. 19

CSKA are dogged in their defensive duties and Ozil trips Musa as he tries to busrt forward which relieves some of the pressure that had been building.

  78. 18

So far a very even contest and even though we've had few clear-cut chances it's a good game to watch.

  79. 17

Ronaldo makes a jinking run and pulls the ball back across the six yard box. Zoran Tosic clears but only as far as Kaka who drives wide from 15 yards.

  80. 16

CSKA keeper Chepchugov is booked for apparently time wasting.

  81. 15

Mercelo's low cross is half cleared and drops to Alonso on the edge of the box and his shot is deflected and loops up over the bar for a corner which is cleared.

  82. 14

Ozil goes down in the box under the challenge of Sergei Ignashevich, but the referee waves aside strong penalty appeals.

  83. 13

There are surprisingly plenty of empty seats in the stadium, but a great atmosphere with plenty of CSKA fans present.

  84. 12

CSKA counter through Musa who goes down the right and puts over a low cross than skids across the face of goal with no one able to apply a touch.

  85. 11

Strong run by Kaka sees him ghost to the edge of the CSKA box but Vasili Berezutski blocks him off.

  86. 10

Sergio Ramos gets a stern lecture from the referee after a tackle from the back on Dzagoev - no card though.

  87. 9

The hosts respond as Ronaldo works a shooting chance but his low effort is saved at the near post by keeper Sergei Chepchugov.

  88. 8

CSKA should have taken the lead as Seydou Doumbia - who has scored 21 goals in his last 20 games - meets a pass from Ahmed Musa first time, but fires over from 12 yards.

  89. 7

Alonso puts a clever ball over the top of the CSKA defence, but Higuain is again caught offside.

  90. 6

Higuain is caught offside and it's certainly not been the fast start many thought from Madrid.

  91. 5

More patient build up from the hosts but Alonso's pass for Ozil is too strong and it goes out for a throw.

  92. 4

Pepe makes a vital interception as Evgeni Aldonin tries to thread the ball through to Alan Dzagoev.

  93. 3

Kaka is fouled and the hosts have a fre-kick but Xabi Alonso's delivery is poor and CSKA clear.

  94. 2

Mesut Ozil is closed down and he is perfectly happy to send the ball back to Pepe and Madrid start again from the back.

  95. 1

CSKA get us under way and it's only seconds before the hosts win possession - it's likely they will have the majority of that tonight.

  96. The teams are here and are as follows - Real Madrid: Casillas, Arbeloa, Pepe, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Khedira, Alonso, Ozil, Kaka, Ronaldo, Higuain. 97. Our colleagues at Sky Bet make Real Madrid 1/10 to win the match in 90 minutes, with the draw 9/1 and CSKA 20/1. Ronaldo is 6/4 to score the first goal, with Gonzalo Higuain and Karim Benzema both on offer at 11/4.

  98. Good evening and welcome to one of the most famous football stadiums in the world, the Santiago Bernabeu, for coverage of the Champions League clash between Real Madrid and CSKA Moscow. The tie is delicately poised following a 1-1 draw in the Russian capital, Pontus Wernbloom's stoppage-time goal cancelling out Cristiano Ronaldo's first-half effort. However, it appears to be a daunting task for CSKA with the La Liga leaders having won 17 of 19 home games this season. Line-ups to follow and, as always, we welcome your comments so send them to and I'll publish the best ones.
