APOEL Nicosia will hope to cause an upset in the UEFA Champions as they seek to overturn a 1-0 aggregate deficit in their last 16 second leg against Lyon.

Ivan Jovanovic knows his Cypriot club are underdogs after defeat in France, but they have nothing to lose ahead of Wednesday night's return meeting at GSP Stadium.

However, Lyon coach Remi Garde hopes his team are motivated to put their Ligue 1 struggles behind them with progress into the quarter-finals of Europe.

Lyon lost 2-0 at Nancy on Saturday in what was their fifth league game without a win in a slump which has seen them slip to seventh in the table.

Garde said: "Our league campaign does not put extra pressure on us here in the Champions League - they are two different competitions.

Real lift

"We know things have not been that great for us in Ligue 1 and a victory here would provide a real lift."

APOEL will be without Helio Pinto, as the Portuguese midfielder serves a one-match suspension.

Jovanovic could welcome back Marcelo Oliviera and Aldo Adorno after the pair missed the first leg through injury, but Ivan Trickovski is an injury doubt.

Lyon will be missing John Mensah and Yoann Gourcuff after both remained in France due to injuries.

But Dejan Lovren has recovered from an Achilles problem and could make his first appearance of 2012.
