The free-kick goes behind and the final whistle blows. Superb result for City, with the only blot on the evening for them the fact they've picked up six bookings for very little from a fussy referee. But the main thing is that in a difficult tie they've got one foot in the last 16, and a week off before the second leg.
Six bookings for City. Bonkers really. Richards the latest man to have his name taken for a foul on Rodriguez.
Mangala can't continue after that foul by Kolarov. He's off, Defour on.
Final change for City as Nasri makes way for Zabaleta. Four full-backs on the field now for City.
GOAL - AGUERO! Very much advantage City now as Toure is played through on goal by Nasri and unselfishly squares the ball to give the City substitute the easiest of finishes.
Kolarov replaces Silva.
Balotelli is the man to make way for Aguero. Balotelli booed off the field by the home fans.
Kleber replaces goalscorer Varela for Porto.
Been a bit card-happy this ref, but Nasri can have few complaints after cynically halting a potential Porto counter-attack with a trip on Hulk.
The corner is cleared to Rodriguez, who is bundled over by Barry. Rodriguez makes the most of it, and Barry becomes the third (and unluckiest) City player booked in quick succession.
De Jong charges down the free-kick ludicrously early and earns himself a booking. Hulk drilled the free-kick into a different part of the wall but now gets another chance.
Kompany lunges on Hulk with first his right leg and then the left. Ref doesn't like it. Porto free-kick 30 yards from goal, yellow card for Kompany.
OWN GOAL - PEREIRA! The same two players involved again as Toure's long ball bounces over Helton off Pereira's left shoulder as Balotelli makes his presence felt. Precious away goal for City.
Pereira has his name taken by the ref after he catches Balotelli with a flailing arm. No intent there, perhaps a bit unlucky to go into the book.
That's the last major action of the half. Porto were good value for the lead given to them by Varela on 27 minutes, but slowly and surely City have worked their way into the game and have worked Helton on a few occasions.
GOAL - VARELA! Porto take the lead, and you have to say they're value for it. Hulk breaks down the left and fires over a good low cross. Varela gets across Clichy and pokes home from close range.
Toure into the book for a pretty cynical chop on Rodriguez.
Couple of scary moments for Porto when they were down to 10 men, but they're back to a full compliment now as Mangala replaces the unfortunate Danilo.
Double trouble for Danilo here, who lunges in on Toure and gets his knee stuck in the turf. He's shown a yellow card as he's stretchered from the field. Real setback for Porto as their new signing departs the scene in agony. Of more immediate concern for Porto is this corner they need to defend with 10 men.
