Dutch outfit prove far too strong for Odense in Denmark

FC Twente took control of Europa League Group K after a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Odense BK in Denmark. The Dutch outfit were two goals to the good just past the half-hour mark and scored twice again after half-time to open up a three-point advantage over Fulham. Ola John set up Wout Brama for a right-footed finish into the bottom-right corner before a quarter of an hour had passed, and it could have got worse soon after for Odense. Luuk de Jong's blast was saved by home goalkeeper Mads Toppel and then John's shot from the edge of the area struck the post. The second goal duly arrived in the 31st minute, Emir Bajrami slotting into the bottom-left corner of Toppel's net. Liberia-born teenager John continued to trouble Odense, heading over the bar in the 34th minute. Twente started the second half the same way they had the first, Brama this time lashing over the bar from close range. Bashkim Kadrii almost halved the deficit in the 64th minute with a left-footed shot, but Twente keeper Nikolay Mihailov tipped it around the post. Toppel got his fist to a De Jong effort, but was powerless to prevent Nacer Chadli firing home a low shot on 65 minutes, just three minutes after his introduction. The next goal arrived against the run of play in the 71st minute, Djiby Fall heading Chris Sorensen's cross into the top-left corner to reduce the arrears. But that was as good as it got for Odense, as Chadli set up De Jong to prod home from close range to seal a comprehensive away win.
