Mozika: Missing for Shakers

Team news ahead of Tuesday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy first-round tie between Bury and Crewe Alexandra at Gigg Lane.

Bury boss Richie Barker will be without a trio of players.

Midfield duo Damien Mozika and Steven Schumacher are sidelined with calf injuries and defender Mark Hughes is also out with a hamstring strain.

Yet Barker has no other injuries or suspensions and is hopeful on-loan Hull striker Mark Cullen will be available following a tight hamstring.

The Shakers lost 2-1 at home to Charlton on Saturday but Barker took great from his side's display.

He said: "For three quarters of the game, we more than matched them.

"If you'd have said at half-time that one team were favourites to get relegated before a ball was kicked and the other were favourites to win the league, you wouldn't have known which was which."

Crewe boss Dario Gradi will again be without rookie striker Nick Powell.

The 17-year-old was sent off for a studs-up challenge during the recent 2-0 defeat at Shrewsbury, eight minutes after coming on as a second-half substitute.

He now serves the second game a three-match suspension while Matt Tootle (groin) and Byron Moore (hamstring) continue to miss out due to injury.

The Alex ended a dismal five-match losing streak when they won 1-0 at Plymouth on Saturday to finally kickstart their campaign.

Yet Gradi, who may rest defender Carl Martin and forward AJ Leitch-Smith, admitted: "There were obviously positives from it but we are a long way from what we want to be doing."
