Ingimarsson: Should have shaken off thigh strain

Team news for Monday night's Championship clash between Ipswich and Coventry at Portman Road.

Ivar Ingimarsson and Mark Kennedy are expected to be fit for Ipswich's clash against Coventry.

Ingimarsson has been missing since the opening weekend of the season due to a thigh strain and, having not been quite ready to make his return in last Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Blackpool, got 90 minutes under his belt in a behind-closed-doors game against Gillingham in midweek.

Midfielder Kennedy also missed the defeat at Bloomfield Road with a calf problem but returned to training on Thursday.

Elsewhere, Ibrahima Sonko and Lee Bowyer both recovered from hamstring injuries to start against the Seasiders and have suffered no ill-effects, but midfielder Lee Martin misses out as he serves the final game of his three-match suspension.

Striker Nathan Ellington pushed his claims for involvement in Paul Jewell's matchday 16 by bagging a hat-trick in Wednesday's 8-1 reserve-team triumph over Gills.

Jewell admitted he is still searching for a winning formula in the wake of last weekend's defeat to Blackpool, which was Town's fifth loss in their last six games.

Coventry will assess the fitness of Joe Murphy over the weekend as they prepare for the trip to Suffolk.

The goalkeeper was forced off at half-time in last Saturday's 2-0 victory over Derby - City's first win of the campaign - nursing a hamstring injury.

Chris Dunn came on for his Sky Blues debut and is ready to step in from the off at Portman Road should Murphy not make it.

Elsewhere, manager Andy Thorn was able to take 21 players for training towards the end of this week - the most he has ever had any at point this season.

Striker Clive Platt is ready for action having now got three behind-closed-doors matches under his belt, the latest coming on Tuesday in which fit-again winger Gary McSheffrey signalled his return from a hamstring injury by bagging a hat-trick in a 5-1 victory over Peterborough.

Midfielder David Bell (back) started against the Rams last weekend while striker Freddy Eastwood (hamstring) is available if called upon. The Sky Blues' only definite absentees are midfielder Gary Deegan and defender Richard Wood (both thigh), who are both set to return to training next week.
