MacDonald: Back for Cherries

Team news ahead of Saturday's League One clash between Bournemouth and Colchester at Dean Court.

Bournemouth are set to welcome Shaun MacDonald back into their matchday squad.

The Welsh midfielder missed the 1-0 defeat to Bury last weekend with a dead leg but has recovered in time for the clash with the Us.

Full-back Charlie Daniels will also be available to caretaker manager Paul Groves after coming through his return to first-team action at Gigg Lane unscathed following an ankle injury, but the Cherries will be without three long-term absentees.

Striker Matt Tubbs is still recovering from a hamstring operation, Stephen Purches will not be fit until next year following his double leg break and Charlie Sheringham remains sidelined with a foot injury.

Colchester boast a near fully-fit squad for their trip.

Defender Magnus Okuonghae made his return from injury after one game out to start last weekend's solid 1-1 draw at home to Sheffield Wednesday.

Midfielder John-Joe O'Toole (hamstring) also made his first appearance for three months as a late substitute against the Owls and, having got 90 minutes under his belt in the club's midweek Essex Senior Cup final defeat, could be more involved this weekend.

Midfielder Martin Rowlands is the U's only absentee as he recovers from a hamstring strain of his own which looks set to rule him out for the rest of the season.

Manager John Ward made four changes last Saturday and the likes of Michael Rose, Matt Heath, Freddie Sears, Kayode Odejayi and Ashley Vincent will all be pushing for recalls against the Cherries.
