Team news ahead of Saturday's League One clash between Oldham and Brentford at Boundary Park.

David Mellor has made an unexpected recovery from a knee injury and is in contention for the Latics home fixture.

The full-back was substituted just half an hour into the Latics' 3-1 triumph at Leyton Orient after appearing to severely twist his knee.

However, the extent of the 18-year-old's injury is not as bad as first feared and he will be competing with Bradley Diallo, who makes his return from a three-game suspension, for the left-back slot.

Midfield duo Zander Diamond and Filipe Morais showed no ill-effects as they made substitute appearances after recovering from their respective knee injuries.

Dean Furman, Josh Parker and Paul Black will continue to miss out as Oldham look to secure their third consecutive League One victory.

Sam Saunders and Toumani Diagouraga could return to the Brentford squad for the trip.

Winger Saunders has been out for three weeks with knee-ligament damage and midfielder Diagouraga has yet to figure this season due to a knee injury.

But both players got a run-out in a reserve match against Tottenham this week and are available to boss Uwe Rosler.

Striker Gary Alexander (knee) and winger Kirk Hudson (hip) are also on the mend but are unlikely to be risked this weekend.

Defenders Shaleum Logan (ankle) and Leon Legge (hamstring) remain in the treatment room.

David Clarkson is pushing for a debut in attack following his recent switch from Bristol City and Adam Thompson keeps his place at right-back after extending his loan from Watford.
