Sodje: Welcomed back

Sodje: Welcomed back

Team news ahead of Saturday's League One clash between Bury and MK Dons at Gigg Lane Stadium.

Manager Richie Barker will welcome back Efe Sodje and hope Steven Schumacher can make a return to action for the Shakers.

Sodje missed last week's 3-0 defeat to Hartlepool following a one-match suspension and the defender will be confident of reclaiming his starting berth after the horror show in his absence.

Schumacher, meanwhile, is making steady progress on his recovery from a calf injury and Barker will seek a scan before making a decision on whether to include the midfielder in the squad.

Defender Mark Hughes continues to overcome his hamstring woes but this week is likely to come too early as the Shakers look to end a run of seven consecutive defeats in all competitions.

Barker told the club's official website: "Obviously, we'd like him (Schumacher) and Hughesy back in contention because they have been missed as players and as people for what they are but we have to think long-term."

Mark Beevers will return to the MK Dons squad for the trip to Bury.

The defender was cup-tied for the Carling Cup third round tie against Burnley in midweek having already played in the competition for Sheffield Wednesday.

Tom Flanagan replaced Beevers at Turf Moor but, with Gary MacKenzie set to serve the second game of his three-match ban, the Owls centre-half is likely to be restored to the starting line-up.

Midfielder Darren Potter and striker Dean Bowditch were forced off through injury on Tuesday night and will be assessed ahead of a second journey to Lancashire in the space of five days.

Mat Doumbe was on the bench at Burnley after eight weeks on the sidelines with an ankle injury and the defender could be in the squad again.

However, Jay O'Shea (ankle), Adam Smith (ankle), Angelo Balanta and Charlie MacDonald remain out.
