Lowry: Could be in Spireites squad

Team news ahead of Tuesday night's League One clash between Chesterfield and Preston at the B2net stadium.

Jamie Lowry could be included in the Chesterfield squad for the first time this season.

The versatile 24-year-old has been regaining match fitness after a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a serious knee injury.

Manager John Sheridan reported a few knocks and bruises following the 1-1 home draw against fellow League One newcomers Stevenage on Saturday but nothing significant enough to rule out any of his players on Tuesday night.

Simon Ford has missed the last two matches with a knock he sustained against Tranmere on the opening day of the season and it remains to be seen if the defender will rejoin the squad.

Ahead of the game Sheridan said: "Preston are one of my fancied teams in this division this season and hopefully we can get a positive result against them."

Preston boss Phil Brown looks set to choose from an unchanged squad as North End search of their first league win of the season.

Right-back David Gray is still on the comeback trail after suffering a broken leg against Norwich in early March while midfielder Ian Ashbee could again miss out with a knee problem.

But youngster Conor McLaughlin may feature after returning to training following a hamstring injury sustained in pre-season.

Brown, meanwhile, believes he has found the right formation to help Preston bounce straight back to the Championship after relegation last season.

The Deepdale boss said: "We have found a formation which suits us and I'm sure we will only get better and better."
