Ryan: Misses out for Iron

Ryan: Misses out for Iron

Team news ahead of Saturday's League One clash between Scunthorpe United and Preston North End at Glanford Park.

Scunthorpe boss Alan Knill looks set to be without winger Jimmy Ryan.

The former Accrington man was forced off with a dead leg after just 19 minutes of the Iron's 2-0 win against Stanley in the Carling Cup on Tuesday night.

Knill admits the 23-year-old is struggling to recover in time and Andy Barcham, who replaced Ryan on Tuesday, could now land a starting role.

Striker Jordan Robertson took a knock in training and will be assessed ahead of the weekend but Matt Godden returned to training on Thursday after overcoming an ankle injury.

Knill has also hinted at a change in tactics, saying: "Preston play a different formation so we might change shape."

Preston manager Phil Brown could hand a debut to new recruit Juvhel Tsoumou.

International clearance for the striker, 20, came through from FIFA on Wednesday afternoon, allowing the deal to be registered.

He signed a two-year contract after a successful trial and will be in the squad at Glanford Park.

Brown has no new injury or suspension concerns and youngster Conor McLaughlin could feature after returning to training following a hamstring injury sustained in pre-season.

Right-back David Gray is still on the comeback trail after suffering a broken leg against Norwich in early March while midfielder Ian Ashbee could again miss out with a knee problem.
