  2. FULL TIME: It ends all-square for the third game in a row between these sides. Andreas Weimann opened the scoring for Villa with a wonderful curler from the edge of the area but Stoke came back in the second half and equalised through Robert Huth's header. Villa move seven points clear of the bottom three while Stoke move onto 42pts and stay in 12th spot.

  3. 90+5

Collins hammers the ball forward but Agbonlahor is penalised for a foul.

  4. 90+4

Nathan Baker heads clear and now Heskey wins the ball back and is there to be one last chance?

  5. 90+3

Eric Lichaj fells Jermaine Pennant and Begovic pumps the ball long.

  6. 90+1

There will be five minutes of stoppage time as Andreas Weimann twists and turns, but then falls on the slippery surface.

  7. 90

The ball is in the net, but the flag has gone up as Jermaine Pennant's corner drifted out before Huth won the header and Shawcross slotted the ball in the corner.

  8. 89

Andreas Weimann opens up some room before attempting another curler, but this time Asmir Begovic is out to collect the ball.

  9. 88

SUBSTITUTION: Emile Heskey replaces the injured Herd.

  10. 87

Chris Herd leaves the pitch on a stretcher and he gets a standing ovation.

  11. 85

Robert Huth is up on his feet ok, but Herd is not able to move too well and a stretcher is called for.

  12. 84

Chris Herd is in need of attention yet again after taking a knock and he doesn't look well at all.

  13. 83

Jermaine Pennant wins a throw which he shouldn't have won as the ball came off a Stoke player.

  14. 82

At the other end Agbonlahor goes down and claims a free-kick, but Mike Dean waves play on.

  15. 81

Jermaine Pennant looks for Peter Crouch with a ball into the box, but Villa clear,

  16. 80

SUBSTITUTION: Ricardo Fuller replaces Rory Delap with ten minutes to go now.

  17. 77

Stoke, however, are aiming for back-to-back wins this Easter period.

  18. 76

As things stand this would be Villa's 14th draw of the season and would take them seven points clear of the relegation zone.

  19. 75

Chris Herd's fierce strike from long-range is well over the crossbar.

  20. 74

SUBSTITUTION: Charles N'Zogbia replaces Barry Bannan for Villa.

  21. 72

YELLOW CARD: Villa defender James Collins is booked for his protests.

  22. Stoke win a free-kick down the right and Jermaine Pennant's delivery is headed into the back of the net by the big German defender.

  23. 71

GOAL: Aston Villa 1 Stoke 1 (Robert Huth 71).

  24. 70

Villa picked up five points from the past 27 available at Villa Park and they're aiming to build on that with the clock ticking.

  25. 69

Villa had 34 points at this stage last season but survived comfortably, finishing ninth by the end of the campaign.

  26. 68

Villa force the ball back to Asmir Begovic and the keeper's clearance is straight out into the stands much to the delight of the home supporters.

  27. 67

The tempo rises once again and with just one goal separating these teams as Eric Lichaj slices his clearance for a corner.

  28. 65

Chris Herd is hurt once again and the medical team are on the field immediately.

  29. 64

Asmir Begovic is forced to head the ball on the edge of his box after Andreas Weimann's long ball was chased down by Agbonlahor.

  30. 63

SUBSTITUTIONS: Peter Crouch and Jermaine Pennant replace Kenwyne Jones and Matthew Etherington in a double change for Stoke.

  31. 62

Alan Hutton charges forward down the right, but ha fails to make the most of it as he slips.

  32. 61

So Alex McCLeish has opted for youth rather than take a chance with the more experienced Charles N'Zogbia.

  33. 60

SUBSTITUTION: 19-year-old Gary Gardner replaces the injured Warnock.

  34. 59

Stephen Warnock is getting some attention on a sore ankle. It looks as though the full-back will try and carry on.

  35. 58

HALF CHANCE VILLA! At the other end Warnock's flick finds Agbonlahor in space, but the striker, who is not a man in form drags his effort wide of the far post.

  36. 57

The corner is a good one but Robert Huth's header is wide of the mark.

  37. 56

He plays it short to Shotton and his cross is blocked out for a corner.

  38. 55

Ryan Shotton's cross is blocked by Warnock and here comes Delap once again!

  39. 53

Looks like Tony Pulis is getting ready to make a few changes to his side.

  40. 52

Rory Delap's long throw goes straight over everybody and drifts out of play on the far side.

  41. 51

Chris Herd goes to ground after a head injury, but he's quickly back up on his feet as Mike Dean warns Barry Bannan.

  42. 49

Jonathan Walters clashes with Chris Herd in the area and the crowd are on their feet calling for a penalty from Ireland's inswinger, but Mike Dean gives nothing.

  43. 48

Robert Huth brings down Gabby Agbonlahor for a free-kick in a dangerous area from the right.

  44. 47

But, guess who's getting ready to launch a long throw at the start of the second half. Yep, that's right it's Rory Delap. This time Villa defend well.

  45. 46

Villa attack the Holte End in this second half aiming to secure just their fifth home win of the season.

  46. 1825

Don't forget, if you'd like to air your views during the second half, email Raz...that's me! at or Tweet me: @RazMirza and I'll publish as many as I can.

  47. 1824

Aston Villa are now 1/3 to claim victory with SKY BET, who make Stoke 10/1 and the draw 3/1. My pre-match prediction of 1-1, which was 5/1 is now 7/2. Head now to to place your bets.

  48. HALF TIME: Aston Villa lead at the break thanks to Andreas Weimann's wonder strike. The Austrian scored his second goal for the club on just his second start. He collected Stephen Ireland's pass before unleashing a stunning right-foot curler past Asmir Begovic. Jonathan Walters' dipping header was the closest Stoke came to equalising.

  49. 45+1

CHANCE STOKE! After some confusion from the throw, Matthew Etherington whips over a cross from the left and Jonathan Walters' header just drops onto the roof of the net.

  50. 45

There will be two minutes of added on time as Stoke win another throw.

  51. 44

Villa have scored 18 goals in 16 home games and just 35 in total this season. Not the best of stats.

  52. 43

Wilson Palacios jumps into the back of the Austrian, Andreas Weimann for a free-kick to Villa.

  53. 42

There were three or four Villa players flying out to stop Palacios' shot. From the corner Huth headed the ball well wide of the far post.

  54. 40

Shay Given can only punch the ball a few yards and Wilson Palacios fires it back in, but Stephen Warnock makes an important block.

  55. 39

Agbonlahor is back to concede a throw and over comes Delap once again.

  56. 38

Villa are sleeping from the free-kick and Shotton's cross is punched clear by Given.

  57. 37

YELLOW CARD: Eric Lichaj is booked for dragging Rory Delap to the ground.

  58. 35

Great to see a young Academy player like Weimann coming through the system and his goal was something really special folks.

  59. 34

And then another Barry Bannan corner is headed towards goal by James Collins once again, but this time Stoke clear their lines.

  60. 33

Villa are pressing again and Rory Delap slices the ball over his own crossbar.

  61. The 20-year-old Austrian, who scored the winner against Fulham on his last appearance, in this his 12th game for the club, scores a cracker to hand Villa the lead! He plays a one-two with Stephen Ireland on the edge of the area before bending a right-foot curler into the top corner.

  62. 32

GOAL: Aston Villa 1 (Andreas Weimann 32) Stoke 0.

  63. 29

Villa win another corner and once again it's the same combination as Bannan's cross is headed towards goal by Collins but Begovic climbs high to snatch the ball.

  64. 27

Good movement from Rory Delap but his shot is easily collected by the confident Shay Given this time.

  65. 26

Villa win their second corner, but Asmir Begovic comes out to collect the inswinging ball in from the right.

  66. 25

There have been just seven goals in six games between these two sides and they drew 0-0 at the Britannia Stadium earlier in the campaign.

  67. 24

Agbonlahor backs into Huth and claims he was brought down by the big German defender but referee Mike Dean waves play on.

  68. 23

Villa are holding onto possession a bit better now as Agbonlahor comes deep to collect the ball.

  69. 22

Ireland scored 13 goals for Manchester City a few years ago but he's scored just the one this season - against Chelsea. This is his second year at Villa Park.

  70. 21

Alan Hutton's pass down the line is poor as Stephen Ireland is penalised for the use of an arm.

  71. 19

CHANCE STOKE! Jonathan Walters sends Kenwyne Jones away down the right, but his shot only finds the side netting. And there's a huge round of applause for Stan Petrov as we reach the 19th minute - his shirt number. Amazing support!

  72. 18

Villa win a corner and Barry Bannan's deep cross is headed towards goal by James Collins, but Asmir Begovic gets his body behind the ball.

  73. 17

Optimistic words Tom, you would think Villa would certainly need another win or two to secure safety.

  74. 15

Agbonlahor tries to out muscle Ryan Shawcross and City are awarded the free-kick.

  75. 14

Not much has happened in these early stages although Stoke have looked the more dangerous so far.

  76. 11

Stoke have won at Wolves and West Brom in the West Midlands already this season, so beware Villa.

  77. 10

Rory Delap is having a bit of banter with the fans as he gets ready to send over one of his famous throw-ins. Nathan Baker climbs high to head clear.

  78. 9

This is Stoke's 51st game of the season remember. And this is their second game in the space of three days for them.

  79. 8

YELLOW CARD: Stephen Warnock is booked for a late challenge on Ryan Shotton. Referee Mike Dean was very quick to take his card out!

  80. 6

Ryan Shotton is charged down by Villa skipper Gabby Agbonlahor and the home crowd enjoyed that.

  81. 4

Eric Lichaj keeps possession well and now Chris Herd keep the ball in the middle of the park.

  82. 3

It's been a decent start to the game by both sides as Villa look to counter-attack.

  83. 2

The crowd is sparse at Villa Park for this clash. Six of this Villa team have come through the academy.

  84. 1

Stoke City get the game underway then and the weather hasn't been the best today.

  85. 1729

Stoke boss Tony Pulis makes three changes from the team which triumphed over Wolves. Striker Kenwyne Jones and midfield duo Rory Delap and Wilson Palacios replace Peter Crouch, Jermaine Pennant and Glenn Whelan respectively.

  86. 1728

Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish hands a second Premier League start to striker Andreas Weimann for the home clash with Stoke. Weimann replaces Emile Heskey in the only change from the side which drew 1-1 at Liverpool on Saturday.

  87. 1710

Aston Villa are 6/5 to claim victory with SKY BET, who make Stoke 9/4 and the draw 23/10. Villa's Gabriel Agbonlahor is favourite to bag the first goal at 11/2 while Andreas Weimann is 6/1. Stephen Ireland is a good outside bet at 10/1 while Chris Herd, who scored against Liverpool on Saturday is 22/1. Meanwhile, the Potters' Jon Walters is 8/1 for the visitors. Matthew Etherington is 33/1 to bag a brace. Robert Huth, who scored at home to Wolves is a 16/1 shot to score first. I'm going for a pre-match prediction of 1-1, which is 5/1. Head now to to place your bets.

  88. 1655

Midfielder Dean Whitehead said: "We have the chance of doing something which hasn't been done at this football club and I can assure you that we will give it our best shot." Stoke boss Tony Pulis has also backed striker Peter Crouch to make the England squad for Euro 2012. Whitehead said: "He has scored quite a few recently, and I really don't think there are many better than him in the league at the moment." Do you City fans think the 31-year-old should be given an England recall in time for the tournament in Poland and Ukraine this summer?

  96. 1651

The Potters have six games - including Villa today - remaining in a season which has so far totalled 50 in all competitions. They can look back with some satisfaction at their achievements over that period, including runs to the last 32 of the Europa League and quarter-finals of the FA Cup and now, thanks to Saturday's 2-1 win over Wolves which moved them up to 11th place, a points tally that has once again surpassed 40, the amount generally regarded as a guarantee of top-flight safety. Stoke are still looking forward, though, with their sights firmly fixed on securing a top-10 finish - something they are yet to do in the Premier League.

  97. 1650

What do you think Villa fans...are you still worried? Email Raz...that's me! at or Tweet me: @RazMirza and I'll publish as many as I can.

  98. 1648

The Scot used six players aged 23 or under for Saturday's 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield, in which Chris Herd's 10th-minute goal was cancelled out by a late Luis Suarez strike. The point at Anfield ended a run of two defeats and eased some of the worries about the club being sucked into a late relegation battle. "Every one of them is ready to go again. They took great confidence from the display," said McLeish. "The invested an awful lot (of effort) but the confidence they have taken from that will let them go again."
