That's it! Ten-man QPR were undone by a rampant Sunderland side as goals from Nicklas Bendtner, James McClean and Stephan Sessegnon were enough to grab the three points. With Djibril Cisse seeing red for the visitors, Taye Taiwo grabbed a consolation from a wonderful free-kick but it ended 3-1 to the Black Cats.
Sunderland take off Bendtner for Elmohamady as QPR take off Zamora for Bothroyd.
GOAL TAIWO!!! Superb curling effort from Taye Taiwo into the top corner leaving Simon Mignolet with no chance. Brilliant set-piece from the full-back. Game on possibly?!
GOAL SESSEGNON!!! Game over for QPR. McClean flicks the ball into Vaughan's path down the left flank who picks out Stephane Sessegnon at the far-post and he slides it past Kenny. 3-0!
GOAL MCCLEAN!!! James McClean shows utter persistence to finish that move off as he first goes for a strike in the box which comes back off Young, the youngster then collects the ball and hits it across goal again which gets the slightest of deflections from Ferdinand and trickles in past a helpless Mignolet.
Adel Taarabt goes off for Shaun Wright-Phillips.
CISSE OFF!!! Djibril Cisse is back suspended as he flies in two-footed on Fraizer Campbell. The forward is complaining he's been hard done by but there's no doubt in my mind - it's a leg breaker!
Hughes didn't take long to ring the changes as he brings off the cautioned Diakite for Akos Buzsaky.
Short and sweet from Fraser who emails to say: "sunderland 1-2 QPR"
@AW_Cook_ tweets: "Not an amazing first half but a good cross and goal for #SAFC. Bendtner and Sess looking good together. McClean lively as ever."
Stephen writes in from Minnesota: "I am a distant mackem but I want to wish them a good game today as well as all three points. Clean sheets and a few goals at the other end. Defensively they are a pretty tight unit, as you can see by the fact that only Everton and the two Manchester teams nave been conceding less all season, BUT they don't score often enough. A couple of goals from Sessegnon and McClean today will see off the QPR revival and put a smile on Martin O'Neill's face before they consider the FA Cup replay. never mind Wembley being special, it's not as special for a SemiFinal as it is for a Cup Final. Time to replace the Wembley Semis and go back to neutral venues OR better yet - home and away!"
The break gives me time to put a few responses up here. Starting with Thomas from Oxford who says: "Im sure Sunderland will bounce back today from their defeat at Blackburn, under O'Neill our heads just dont drop, Sessegnon coming back is awesome and he will make the difference today. 3-0 to Sunderland!!"
That's it for the half. Just Zorro-like Nicklas Bendtner providing the solitary goal as he gets his head to a beautifully whipped-in James McClean delivery. 1-0 Sunderland at the break. Can Mark Hughes' men respond in the second-half?
Bridge crunches into Mackie who flicks the ball past the left-back. Easy booking for Mike Jones once more.
GOAL BENDTNER!!! Terrific cross from McClean, right into the danger area from the left flank. Masked-man Bendtner is the one on the move and leaps ahead of Taiwo to head into the far corner.
After that embarrassing exchange, Zamora and Kyrgiakos go into the book.
O'Shea comes off for Campbell - tactical reshuffle needed by O'Neill. Huge blow for the Black Cats to see their stand-in skipper leave the field.
Just to confirm Luke Young has been booked earlier on for a challenge on James McClean. Rightly so too.
@chairforce21 tweets: "we'll crush qpr today which will set us up nicely for Tuesday! Haway Sun'land!!"
Diakite goes in the book for a late challenge on Colback - just seconds after Mackie felt he had been brought down unfairly.
@lukewilson91 tweets: "as a Sunderland fan I also think QPR will win today. Focus is on the Everton game midweek. Wembley!!"
Lewis says: "Think Sunderland will pick themselves back up after Blackburn, I'm going for a 2-1 win ha'way the lads!"
Kev G says: "Qpr need to win today in order to keep climbing away from relegation. Hopefully they will go on a good run now after that Liverpool win, we are due a good run. I am going for a big QPR win today with a clean sheet and hopefully Taarabt will get a few. 0 - 3 to QPR"
