  1. Thanks for all your comments today folks! Don't forget, you can always follow me on Twitter: @RazMirza or send me your views so speak to you all soon!

  2. FULL TIME: Wigan dominated for 90 minutes against West Brom but it was one of their former players who came back to haunt them as Paul Scharner popped up with the equaliser on 65 minutes after James McArthur had given the home side a deserved lead nine minutes into the second half.

  3. 90+3

OFF THE POST! Albert Crusat's cross deflects off Gareth McAuley and onto the near post. They've had 20 efforts on the Albion goal this afternoon and somehow only scored once!

  4. 90+1

Four minutes of stoppage time to be added on as Mohamed Diame sets sights on goal from close-range but somehow manages to hit Franco Di Santo, who was standing wide of goal in any case.

  5. 90

SUBSTITUTION: Albert Crusat replaces Maynor Figueroa for Wigan.

  6. 89

Jean Beausejour's low cross is headed wide by Victor Moses.

  7. 88

Callum McManaman lashes his shot over the crossbar as the rain starts to come down at the DW Stadium.

  8. 87

Wigan are piling it on now and Dorrans is called into action to clear the ball at the back post under serious pressure too.

  9. 86

SUBSTITUTION: Graham Dorrans replaces Jerome Thomas for Albion.

  10. 85

The clock is ticking as Mohamed Diame wins a free-kick in the middle of the park.

  11. 84

YELLOW CARD: And out of frustration, Callum McManaman is booked for bringing Paul Scharner crashing down.

  12. 83

Callum McManaman could have been the hero as he finds himself in yards of space in the box, but he could get his shot away.

  13. 82

Albion break with pace and James Morrison sets up Keith Andrews, although he blasts his shot into the side netting.

  14. 80

I hear Callum McManaman is a very distant relative of Steve.

  15. 79

SUBSTITUTIONS: And James McCarthy and Shaun Maloney are replaced by Mohamed Diame and Callum McManaman for the Latics.

  16. 78

SUBSTITUTION: Keith Andrews replaces Youssouf Mulumbu for Albion.

  17. 76

Nicky Shorey's ball into the box very nearly falls for right-back Billy Jones, although he wasn't convincing in front of goal asllowing Wigan to clear.

  18. 75

West Brom are living on their nerves as Emmerson Boyce causes all sorts of problems in the box.

  19. 72

Billy Jones is down on one knee and in need of some attention although Michael Oliver tells him to get up as he waves play on.

  20. 71

The clock is ticking as Roy Hodgson contemplates taking Mulumbu off the field. Di Santo heads the ball out of Boyc's reach.

  21. 69

Replays show that Mulumbu pushed James McCarthy right in front of Michael Oliver too. I have no idea why he need to speak to the fourth official!

  22. 68

YELLOW CARD: And Mulumbu is booked along with Emmerson Boyce and Jerome Thomas, so three yellow cards in the space of a minute.

  23. 67

Referee Michael Oliver has a word with the fourth official.

  24. 66

Youssouf Mulumbu could be in trouble here as he raises his hands.

  25. Muted celebrations as Scharner returns to haunt Albion. Chris Brunt's left-footed delivery is headed into the back of the net by the Austrian at the far post. He scored 17 goals in a Wigan shirt during his time at the DW Stadium!

  26. 65

GOAL: Wigan 1 West Brom 1 (Paul Scharner 65).

  27. 65

Franco Di Santo heads over his own crossbar for another corner.

  28. 64

Chris Brunt 's left-foot cross deflects off Maynor Figueroa and out for a corner.

  29. 63

The Albion faithful, who have travelled in such large numbers today are not in the best of moods at this moment.

  30. 62

Gary Caldwell causes problems for Albion in the box until Liam Ridgewell goes to ground.

  31. 61

YELLOW CARD: Albion skipper Chris Brunt is booked for a late tackle on Franco Di Santo now.

  32. 59

YELLOW CARD: Former Latics man Paul Scharner is booked for a late challenge on Maynor Figueroa.

  33. 57

Wigan last recored a home win back in December against QPR.

  34. 56

Albion try and hit back straight away but Ali Al Habsi is quickly out to claim the ball.

  35. Victor Moses dives into the box from the right going past Nicky Shorey and drives his cross into the knees of Billy Jones and the ball falls nicely for McArthur to knock the ball into the back of the net from close-range for his third goal of the season and his first at the DW Stadium.

  36. 54

GOAL: Wigan 1 (James McArthur) West Brom 0.

  37. 54

Wigan play a short corner but Shaun Maloney's cross is easily collected by the impressive Ben Foster.

  38. 53

Paul Scharner goes in hard on Jean Beausejour which shows a new approach to this half by Albion. Certainly a lot more 'in your face' type of football.

  39. 52

Shaun Maloney is given an opportunity to have a crack at goal from around 25-yards, but he's shot is easily collected by Ben Foster. His last goal in the Premier League came for Aston Villa against Chelsea back in 2007.

  40. 51

Bit scrappy in the early stages of this second half and West Brom will be happy with that.

  41. 50

Remember, West Brom have lost just two of their last eight Premier League away matches while Wigan have won just one of their last 13 Premier League games, with six defeats suffered during that run (W1 D6 L6).

  42. 48

Unfortuantely Maynor Figueroa blasts his shot well over the crossbar, from a decent position too.

  43. 47

The Latics have managed only 24 goals in 28 games and that first half explains why they haven't scored more as Di Santo wins a free-kick dead central about 25-yards from goal.

  44. 46

The hosts get the second half underway then. And they'll be hoping to tuck away their chances in the next 45 minutes.

  45. 1555

Don't forget, if you'd like to air your views during the second half, email Raz...that's me! at razwan.mirza@bskyb.com or Tweet me: @RazMirza and I'll publish as many as I can.

  46. 1554

Wigan are 15/8 to claim victory with SKY BET, who make West Brom 2/1 and the draw 11/8. My pre-match prediction of 2-2, which was 14/1 is now 25/1. Head now to www.skybet.com to place your bets.

  47. HALF TIME: It's been a nil-nil massacre at the DW Stadium so far. Wigan have completely dominated the first period with Emmerson Boyce and James McCarthy both striking the crossbar. Franco Di Santo also missed a couple of glorious chances for the hosts. Albion boss Roy Hodgson will be happy his side are going into the dressing rooms with the score still goalless.

  48. 45+1

Another delicious delivery from Jean Beausejour as he drives the ball in with pace and Franco Di Santo is inches away from meeting that.

  49. 45

There wil be just one added minute of stoppage time as Jean Beausejour's delivery causes all sorts of confusion in the Albion box.

  50. 43

Oh dear! Jean Beausejour flicks the ball into the box to Victor Moses who sets up Shaun Maloney in the middle, but the former Celtic man tries the acrobatic overhead kick rather than control and turn.

  51. 41

Just before McCarthy shot, Franco Di Santo had an opportunity with a header, although he failed to hit the target, but this has been excellent stuff from Athletic.

  52. 40

Replays show Ben Foster tipped McCarthy's effort onto the crossbar and his follow up save wasn't bad either by the way.

  53. 39

OFF THE CROSSBAR: James McCarthy robs Jerome Thomas on the edge of the area before lashing his right-foot effort off the woodwork with a sublime strike.

  54. 38

There was a foul by Maynor Figueroa in the middle of that move although referee Michael Oliver waves play on.

  55. 37

Poor pass from James McArthur and Albion break until Shane Long gives the ball away.

  56. 36

James Morrison looks deep this time but Gareth McAuley can't keep his header down.

  57. 35

Albion have recorded three wins in their last four, while they have lost only two of their last eight league games on the road as Antolin Alcaraz brings Jerome Thomas down.

  58. 33

That was one ex-Birmingham man to another there as Beausejour's cross was cleared by Ridgewell. Both are playing exceptionally well this afternoon.

  59. 32

Antolin Alcaraz finds Maynor Figueroa who picks out Jean Beausejour and he delivers a delicious left-foot cross which is headed away well by Liam Ridgewell.

  60. 31

Albion win their third corner of the game and Liam Ridgewell makes contact but Jerome Thomas is adjudged to be in an offside position.

  61. 30

That is until Victor Moses drives forward and attempts to set Franco Di Santo away but the striker pulls Nicky Shorey's shirt and referee Michael Oliver blows for the foul.

  62. 29

Billy Jones throws long for Shane Long but Wigan thump the ball upfield. The Baggies are having much more of the ball now and are starting to impose themselves.

  63. 28

LUCKY DI SANTO! Franco Di Santo goes in late on full-back Billy Jones and is lucky he didn't receive a booking for that because replays show he went in with his studs showing. It could have been nasty had he made contact.

  64. 26

This is better stuff from Albion now as Nicky Shorey looks for Shane Long's deep run, but the ball is over hit.

  65. 25

A win would take West Brom to 39 points, although manager Roy Hodgson wants a top 10 finish.

  66. 24

Albion have a free-kick out wide and the ball in is headed wide by the unmarked Gareth McAuley, who may feel he should have done much better.

  67. 23

Wigan play Liverpool next week and Kenny Dalglish is in the stands watching this game.

  68. 22

Jerome Thomas whips a low ball across the Wigan area, but nobody anticipates it and it's a goalkick to the hosts.

  69. 21

Wigan keep possession of the ball until Chris Brunt wins the ball and looks for Shane Long, who runs a couple of yards into an offside position.

  70. 19

The Baggies have scored first in six of the seven Premier League meetings between the two sides, but they're second best at the moment.

  71. 18

The ball bounces around in the Baggies box and they're struggling to clear. Eventually they do as Ben Foster comes to the edge of the box to claim the ball.

  72. 17

Shaun Maloney looks for Victor Moses but Youssouf Mulumbu is back defending to concede a corner.

  73. 16

OFF THE CROSSBAR! Emmerson Boyce, who hasn't scored a goal since December 2009, heads against the woodwork from close-range from Maynor Figueroa's left-wing cross. How many chances do Wigan need?

  74. 15

Maynor Figueroa's long distance effort is collected by Victor Moses but fourth official Sian Massey has her flag up for offside. Good call too!

  75. 13

Ali Al Habsi does well to punch the ball away and then a high ball is collected by Shane Long who sets up Jerome Thomas, but he drags his effort wide.

  76. 12

West Brom have settled now as they win a second corner of the game and Gareth McAuley goes forward.

  77. 10

The resulting corner is cleared and now the home side spray the ball around the back.

  78. 9

James McArthur works well to deny Albion a cross from the right but concedes a corner.

  79. 8

West Brom play a bit of keep ball now as Paul Scharner's cross is deflected off James McArthur for a throw.

  80. 7

Franco Di Santo nudjes his header onto Emmerson Boyce but he slices his shot well wide of goal despite being in plenty of space.

  81. 6

BAD MISS! From the resulting corner the ball falls nicely into the patch of Gary Caldwell, but the centre-back somehow side-foots the ball wide from 8-yards.

  82. 5

THIRD CHANCE! It's Franco Di Santo again and again he misses the target from close-range, firing his shot over the crossbar but replays show that . Ben Foster tips the ball over. Amazing start this!

  83. 4

SECOND CHANCE WIGAN! Jean Beausejour's lovely cross misses out Liam Ridgewell and Franco Di Santo volley's over the crossbar.

  84. 3

Albion are wearing black armbands in tribute to one of their greatest players Ray Barlow who passed away this week.

  85. 2

FIRST CHANCE! Encouraging start to the game as Franco Di Santo rifles his left-foot shot high and wide of goal. He's the Latics' leading goalscorer this season with just four goals.

  86. 1

Albion get us underway at the DW Stadium then. The visitors are kicking left to right and are wearing their all-red kit today while Wigan are in their traditional blue shirts and white shorts. The atmosphere is fantastic and the stadium is pretty much packed. Let's hope for a cracking match!

  87. 1454

The pitch is in good condition and the weather is fine in sunny Wigan today. Albion have laid on free coaches for 4,500 fans travelling to the DW Stadium as a thank you for their support this season. If you're one of those who were on the coach, or you're in the stadium now and if you'd like to air your views during the match, email Raz...that's me! at razwan.mirza@bskyb.com or Tweet me: @RazMirza and I'll publish as many as I can.

  88. 1449

Wigan line-up in a traditional 4-4-2 formation, although it could change to a 4-2-3-1 formation if Shaun Maloney drops deep. The Baggies line-up in a 4-1-4-1 formation with Youssouf Mulumbu in a holding role or they could match Wigan with a 4-2-3-1 formation depending on how the game is going.

  89. 1440

So, the team news is that Shaun Maloney makes his first Premier League start for four years for rock-bottom Wigan. The midfielder has struggled to force his way into Roberto Martinez's plans since joining from Celtic last summer but he impressed in the draw with Norwich last weekend and is rewarded with a place in the starting XI. Franco Di Santo also comes in for the injured Hugo Rodallega while West Brom manager Roy Hodgson makes five changes from the loss to Manchester United, with Shane Long, Jerome Thomas, Nicky Shorey, Billy Jones and Paul Scharner all included.

  90. 1430

Let's have a quick look at the betting then and Wigan are 9/5 to claim victory with SKY BET, who make West Brom 7/5 and the draw 12/5. The Latics' Franco di Santo is favourite to bag the first goal at 7/1 while Shaun Maloney is a good outside bet at 10/1. James McCarthy is 13/2 to score in 90 minutes. Meanwhile, the Baggies' Shane Long is 6/1 to score first and Chris Brunt is 25/1 to bag a brace. James Morrison is 11/1 for the visitors while Youssouf Mulumbu is 22/1 to score first. I'm going for a pre-match prediction of 2-2, which is 14/1. Head now to www.skybet.com to place your bets.

  91. 1416

WIGAN: Al Habsi, Alcaraz, Caldwell, Figueroa, Boyce, McCarthy, McArthur, Beausejour, Moses, Di Santo, Maloney.

  92. 1416

SUBSTITUTES: Kirkland, Crusat, Ben Watson, Gomez, McManaman, Diame, Stam.

  94. 1416

SUBSTITUTES: Daniels, Andrews, Dorrans, Dawson, Tamas, Cox, Fortune.

  95. 1416

  96. 1416

    Here come the teams then...

  98. 1412

Meanwhile, Roy Hodgson has urged his West Brom side go into the match able to play fear-free football as they are 13 points clear of the relegation zone. Hodgson said: "The three recent wins in a row lifted us into a comfortable position. If the fear has been removed to some extent, that is a good thing as long as we don't fall into the trap - complacency."

  99. 1410

Do you Latics' fans think your team have a great chance of getting out of the bottom three at home today? Send me your thoughts. Email Raz...that's me! at razwan.mirza@bskyb.com or Tweet me: @RazMirza and I'll publish as many as I can.

  100. 1409

But Martinez's men will have to achieve something they have only managed once in the league so far this season - pick up a victory at the DW Stadium. "One win at home is not going to be enough and we want to change that," Martinez said in his pre-match press conference on Friday. "Manchester United, Manchester City and West Brom - those are the best top three away records in the league so that shows you away from home West Brom are a tough team to play."

  101. 1408

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez has stressed the importance of improving their poor home record over the final stretch of the season as they look to salvage their Premier League status. Wigan go into this game rooted to the bottom of the standings but, with fellow strugglers Wolves facing Manchester United and QPR and Bolton not in action, the Latics have a great chance to move out of the relegation zone.
