Webster: Could play for hosts

Team news for Saturday's League Two clash between Northampton and Gillingham at Sixfields Stadium.

Northampton boss Aidy Boothroyd may use the penultimate game of the season at home to experiment a little with next season in mind.

The Cobblers guaranteed their Football League status with a goalless draw at relegation-threatened Hereford last weekend.

There are several players under contract for next season who have not been regulars under Boothroyd since his appointment at the end of November. Defender Byron Webster has mostly been used as a substitute and midfielder Arron Davies has barely figured.

Boothroyd has insisted that everyone will be given the chance to impress over the final two games, although he is not expecting too much experimentation with the starting line-up in the final home game on Saturday.

"I've pretty much made my mind up what I want to do. I won't be making too many changes but at the same time I would like to see one or two people in different positions," said Boothroyd. "I think it is right for the league that we try to win our two remaining games. Gillingham still have the play-offs to aim for and although we are safe, I want us to finish as high up the table as we possibly can."

Strikers Jake Robinson, Brett Williams and Lewis Wilson are among the options for Boothroyd along with Webster and Davies.

Meanwhile, Gillingham are sweating over the fitness of skipper Andy Frampton.

The centre-back went home from training on Thursday due to illness and will be assessed ahead of the clash at Sixfields.

Manager Andy Hessenthaler will be hoping Frampton recovers in time having seen the experienced defender forge a solid partnership with rookie Connor Essam, highlighted by their display in last weekend's 3-1 win over Swindon which kept the Kent club's faint play-off hopes alive.

Midfielder Chris Whelpdale bagged a brace to help down the Robins and the midfielder, who has been managing a knee injury in recent weeks, will also be monitored as he continues to play through the pain barrier.

The Gills were boosted by the returns of midfield trio Charlie Lee, Danny Jackman and Curtis Weston last weekend but Jack Payne (hamstring), Gavin Tomlin (ankle) and Callum Davies (hand) are set to remain sidelined.
