Super-sub Hatfield downs Dons

Substitute Will Hatfield struck late on to give Accrington Stanley a 2-1 home victory over AFC Wimbledon.

Hatfield got on the end of Bobby Grant's cross 10 minutes from time and slid the ball home to give Stanley boss Paul Cook only the second win of his 11 games in charge. The Dons were left to rue missed chances and hit a post in the second half. Stanley took the lead after four minutes when Grant's 20-yard free-kick was fumbled by Dons goalkeeper Seb Brown and Luke Joyce pounced from close range. Christian Jolley was not too far away from an equaliser with a first-time effort after 29 minutes. A minute later the Dons were level when they broke down the left and dangerman Rashid Yussuff played in a perfect cross for Luke Moore to rifle into the roof of the net. Moore should have doubled his tally but was inches off connecting with a ball from Jack Midson while Grant headed just over for Stanley before the break. Wimbledon came close again on the hour mark with Jolley curling a shot from just inside the area which hit the foot of the post while top scorer Jack Midson forced a decent save out of Ian Dunbavin. Midson also headed over but Terry Brown's men were made to pay for those missed opportunities with Hatfield's late winner.
