Purdie: Skipper out for visitors

Team news for Tuesday's League Two clash between Port Vale and Hereford at Vale Park.

Teenager Joe Davis could make his full debut for Port Vale against the Bulls.

Davis, 18, made only his second appearance for the club on Saturday at Crawley, coming on as a 49th-minute substitute after Clayton McDonald had been sent off.

With McDonald now suspended, Gareth Owen (knee) still out and Lee Collins having joined Barnsley last week, John McCombe and Davis are the only recognised centre-backs available to manager Micky Adams on Tuesday night.

McDonald begins a two-match ban while midfielder Anthony Griffith completes his two-match suspension for accumulating 10 yellow cards this season.

Defender Adam Yates, midfielder Kingsley James and strikers Tom Pope and Ben Williamson are options for Adams should he wish to make any further changes.

Meanwhile, Hereford will be without captain Rob Purdie for the match.

The versatile midfielder-come-full-back is facing around a month on the sidelines having sustained a hamstring injury in the second half of Saturday's 3-2 home defeat to Southend.

However, the return of fit-again Ryan Green to the bench at the weekend means manager Richard O'Kelly has a ready-made replacement.

Midfielder Will Evans was also forced off in the second period at Edgar Street carrying a knock and will be assessed, as will Simon Clist who has been ruled out of the last two games.

Benoit Dalibard (hamstring) and Joe Heath (groin) remain on the sidelines.

O'Kelly made just the one change at the weekend, Yoann Arquin coming in for Lyle Taylor after the Bulls were unable to agree an extension to his loan stay with parent club Bournemouth.
