Cook finds recipe for success

Craig Lindfield scored the winner to give Paul Cook his first win as Accrington boss as Northampton were beaten 2-1.

Substitute Lindfield headed home Peter Murphy's right-wing cross to secure a first victory in Cook's seven games in charge. Stanley took the lead three minutes before the break when Northampton failed to clear their lines and Jamie Devitt got the ball around 15 yards out and curled it low into the bottom corner of the net. The Cobblers, one of the form teams of the league with three wins on the bounce which has taken them out of the drop zone, hit the crossbar through Ben Tozer on the hour. But they made amends after 69 minutes when sub Brett Williams scored with his first touch. He got on the end of Blair Adams' left-wing cross and challenged with goalkeeper Lee Nicholls to force the ball over the line. Northampton were then dependent on two good saves from Matt Duke, who kept out Luke Joyce and Toto Nsiala. After the Reds had taken the lead, Kelvin Langmead should have scored a last-gasp equaliser for the visitors but he headed over from six yards out.
