Rotherham rode their luck on Saturday to claim a 1-0 home win over AFC Wimbledon, who spurned a series of second-half chances.

Wimbledon should have led within the first minute in the League Two clash at the Don Valley Stadium when Ryan Jackson pulled the ball back from the right flank for Luke Moore, but unchallenged he spooned the ball high over the bar.

And the visitors had to wait until the 35th minute for their second effort on goal, a Lee Minshull header from Jackson's cross which was just inches wide.

In between, two great saves by Seb Brown denied the home side the lead. After 20 minutes Brown dived to his left to turn Danny Harrison's powerful shot for a corner, and he followed that four minutes later with an even better save - turning Harrison's header for another corner.

Wimbledon paid the price for some poor finishing after the break. Dale Tonge cleared Minshull's header off the line and Luke Moore and Jack Midson should both have scored with relatively easy headers.

The full cost of those misses was evident in the 78th minute when Lewis Grabban chased a long ball down the left and pulled a pass back inside for Sam Wood to fire home off the inside of a post.
