Robins on song at Oxford

Cheltenham chalked up a fifth straight away league win with a comfortable 3-1 victory over Oxford at the Kassam Stadium.

The home side had left-back Liam Davis sent off after 55 minutes for a second yellow card, his first coming just a few minutes earlier. But Chris Wilder's side, who fell to their fifth successive defeat in all competitions, were already looking beaten at that stage. Mark Yates' Robins dominated the first half and really deserved more than the one-goal interval lead given them by Sido Jombati's first goal for the club. The Portuguese right-back's first attempt to cross was blocked, so he tried a left-footed lob over goalkeeper Ryan Clarke from 25 yards and measured it to perfection. Kaid Mohamed almost doubled the lead a minute later when he cut in from the left but Clarke saved well at his near post. Davis was shown his second yellow and a subsequent red for a foul on Jombati, and just a minute later Cheltenham made it 2-0 as James Spencer fired through a crowd of players from a corner. Oxford rallied late on and Rob Hall went close before Peter Leven pulled one back with a curling 25-yard free-kick. But the Robins wrapped up the points with Mohamed converting a free-kick of his own, with a deflection off the wall leaving Clarke helpless.
