Cheltenham cemented their top-three place in League Two with a convincing 2-0 home victory over an out-of-sorts Port Vale.
Second-half goals from Darryl Duffy and Luke Summerfield did the damage to make it just one league defeat in eight games for the Robins. It was the home side who had the pick of the first-half chances, with Jimmy Spencer sending an effort bobbling the wrong side of the post before Russ Penn also stabbed an effort wide and there was another chance for Spencer to break the deadlock late in the half, but he failed to direct his header. The Valiants' best chance came at the midway point when Tom Pope played Sean Twigg in only for the striker to be denied by Steve Elliott's challenge. The breakthrough finally came 10 minutes into the second period when Louis Dodds' trip on Penn allowed Duffy to fire home from the penalty spot. Summerfield struck a second in the 69th minute as the home side turned up the heat, the midfielder firing home after goalkeeper Tomlinson had failed to collect Garbutt's cross.
