Connell rescues point for Robins

Alan Connell earned Swindon Town a 1-1 draw at AFC Wimbledon to extend the Robins' unbeaten run to 10 games.

The 28-year-old former Grimsby striker celebrated after getting the last touch when Jake Jervis' deflected close-range effort flew past Dons goalkeeper Seb Brown on 73 minutes. Wimbledon looked destined to record their first win in eight games after Sammy Hatton's own deflected attempt put the home side ahead on six minutes, only for Connell to level late on. The Dons squandered the game's first chance in the third minute, when Jack Midson met Ryan Jackson's inviting centre but could not direct his header on target. Wimbledon were not made to wait long to open the scoring, as Hatton's sixth-minute strike took a wicked deflection on its way past the helpless Wes Foderingham. The hosts were inches away from doubling their advantage when Midson's drew a brilliant fingertip stop from Foderingham. However, the Dons failed to hold out and, after squandering one chance, Connell found himself in the right place at the right time to grab a draw.
