Accrington's loan men did the business to halt a run of three straight home defeats with a 2-1 victory over Bristol Rovers.

Micah Evans, on loan from Blackburn and making his Football League debut in Saturday's League Two clash at the Crown Ground, collected the ball after five minutes and ran into area, evading challenges from the Rovers defence, before firing a low shot past Scott Bevan. Stanley suffered a set back when they had to substitute injured goalkeeper Ian Dunbavin, who suffered a gashed leg, after 14 minutes. Sean Murdoch came on in his place. Murdoch was not tested before Stanley made it 2-0 after 30 minutes. A Luke Joyce free-kick found Kevin Long on the edge of the area and the Burnley defender rifled a volley into the roof of the net. Rovers got one back three minutes after half-time when Mustapha Carayol went on a run down the left wing and his cross was met by the unmarked Joe Anyinsah who stroked the ball home from 10 yards out. The Pirates went on the hunt for an equaliser and Craig Stanley's free-kick was not far away, while Murdoch pulled off a superb save to keep out Danny Woodards powerful strike in injury time. Stanley right-back Peter Murphy was sent off three minutes into added time for a challenge on Carayol but the home side held on for the win.
