Ritchie: Set up second
Swindon midfielder Jonathan Smith came off the bench to drive Paolo Di Canio's side to a routine 2-0 win over Southend.
Smith's superb 20-yard strike seven minutes before half-time set Swindon on course for their first back-to-back victories in 11 months following last week's defeat of Rotherham.
Algerian Mehdi Kerrouche doubled Swindon's lead three minutes after half-time with his second goal of the season.
Swindon were the better team throughout and Kerrouche was unlucky not to open the scoring after just seven minutes when his header from Matt Ritchie's cross rebounded off the corssbar.
There was nothing Southend goalkeeper Glenn Morris could do about Smith's right foot pile-driver, which flew into the bottom left corner for his first goal of the season.
Kerrouche made the points safe, sweeping home from six yards after neat interplay between Simon Ferry and Matt Ritchie.
