Kabba: May return for Gillingham clash

Team news ahead of Tuesday night's League Two clash between Barnet and Gillingham at Underhill Stadium.

Barnet have no new injury worries ahead of the visit of Gillingham.

Darren Dennehy, Daniel Leach and Steve Kabba remain in the treatment room but boss Lawrie Sanchez has an otherwise full-strength squad.

Defenders Dennehy and Leach missed most of last season with foot injuries and suffered setbacks in their recoveries over the summer.

Striker Kabba is closing in on a return after a summer knee operation but will not be rushed back.

Sanchez named an unchanged side against Port Vale on Saturday following the midweek Carling Cup win at Portsmouth, but could make changes after they slumped to a 3-1 home defeat.

Forward Charlie Taylor came on at half-time against Vale and could get a run-out from the start.

Gillingham's Chris Whelpdale is a major doubt for the trip to Barnet while fellow midfielder Jack Payne is also a concern.

Whelpdale was forced off nursing a severe dead leg in the 34th minute of Saturday's 2-1 victory at Crewe having not long previous handed Gills the lead with a great opener.

Payne, meanwhile, sustained a hamstring problem in the same game and was forced to limp off late on.

Manager Andy Hessenthaler is already light in the middle of the park as Luke Rooney prepares to serve the third and final match of his suspension.

And his options are not much better in attack with Adam Birchall (cruciate knee ligament) missing long-term and still no replacement through the door at Priestfield, although it is hoped striker Dennis Oli will be back in contention to face the Bees having overcome his virus.

Centre-half Simon King, who continues to struggle with tonsillitis, will be assessed.
