Team news ahead of Saturday's League Two clash between Crewe Alexandra and Gillingham at Gresty Road.

Crewe boss Dario Gradi could recall Ashley Westwood and Danny Shelley to the starting line-up.

Both players were among the substitutes for the midweek Carling Cup tie at Preston but will come back into contention to start this weekend.

Gradi has no injury or suspension concerns as his men seek to kick-start their campaign after two successive defeats.

The Railwaymen opened their League Two campaign with a 3-0 reverse at Swindon last weekend before losing 3-2 at Deepdale on Tuesday night.

Yet Gradi could not fault his players' efforts against Phil Brown's side, saying: "We won't face sides as good as that in our league this season I wouldn't have thought."

Gillingham boss Andy Hessenthaler could welcome back striker Dennis Oli.

Oli missed the opening-day victory over Cheltenham and the Carling Cup defeat to Brighton with a virus but he returned to training on Thursday.

The return of Oli would be a timely one for Hessenthaler with Adam Birchall out for the opening few months of the season after suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury.

Defender Danny Jackman was also absent in midweek due to illness but has recovered and is pushing for a start.

The Gills will be without midfielder Luke Rooney once again as he serves the second of a three-match ban for his dismissal against Cheltenham last weekend.

Centre-half Simon King will miss out after contracting tonsilitis and fellow defender Andy Frampton is a doubt after reporting for training on Thursday suffering from a sore throat.
