Liverpool's defending was again under scrutiny after a 3-3 draw with Valerenga in Oslo.

Dalglish plans 'educated' training after conceding 15 pre-season goals

Question marks continue to surround Liverpool's defending after they failed to win for a third consecutive pre-season match following a 3-3 draw with Valerenga in Oslo. Kenny Dalglish fielded a strong line-up after suffering 3-0 defeats in the previous two warm-up games, against Hull City and Galatasaray, but The Reds were 2-0 down early on after goals from Lars Iver Strand and Fegor Ogude. Andy Carroll pulled a goal back before half-time, albeit after the ball seemed to hit his hand, and Liverpool looked like they had pulled off a victory when Daniel Agger scored twice from two corners in the final five minutes. An entertaining contest had one more goal left in it though, as substitute Mohammed Fellah scored from long range in injury time.

      Positives

Liverpool will have just one more chance to claim victory before the new Premier League season, when they host Valencia on Saturday. Dalglish's team have now conceded three goals in five successive friendlies after previous games against Guangdong, and a Malaysia XI. The Scot told Liverpool's official website after the draw with Valerenga: "It was obviously more pleasing in the second half, we were closing down higher up the pitch. In the first half we stood off. They wanted time to play and we gave them time to play. "You've got Pepe (Reina) back after his operation, Daniel Agger back, which was good. Raheem (Sterling) got a wee run. Stephen Sama got a wee run as well, so there are some positives. "We've got to start looking towards the (league) games. The important thing is we've got to be better when we don't have the ball - but the boys aren't shy of hard work. There's an educated week's training ahead."
